Daut hasn't won major tournament since HC4 (RBW3 happened before HC4), on the other hand Yo has won 3 of them and you didn't mention him. Also Hera won Holy Cup, which was officially S-tier, although too gimmicky for my taste.

I feel that Hera is the best heir to the throne. He is young, likable, and has time to play they game....and Viper is getting older, and he is probably at a point in his life where he should be looking to transition to something else.

i think in esports you can compete way longer then we think. esports is still "new" so we need to wait and see. if he looks out for his body thesnek can dominate for a long time - never underestimate theviper.

After the redbull and now the grand melee i have seen viper playing different he just doesn't look confident enough and not even comfortable, it could be just bad days but i am not sure cause he won the warlords relatively easy.

I guess his hand isn't the same, he is wearing the wrist band full time and those bands on the fingers (the ones you use for the mouse), that could explain why he doesn't look comfortable sometimes, i guess hera (if he keeps doing aoe2) will take the crown for the next year for most events, larry was the chosen one but honestly that guy doesn't seem to have any passion for aoe2.

Being good at something and feeling passion for it isn't always connected.

People spend years of their lives building their career, climb the corporate ladder to get that higher position. Why? Because it pays well. And you eventually become good at it.

How is this any different? Its a game lol, he is good at it, he's played it for 8 years, and he has the skill to compete for huge prize money. Anyone in his position would do the same thing.

or maybe competition is simply at its highest level for this game that it's ever been. even the greatest will lose from time to time when there's strong competition.

I have to watch more games to form a more informed opinion but my general sense over the past 2-3 years has been that Viper vs Lierey, Lierey vs Hera, Viper vs Hera etc are all basically 55-45 propositions at best on any given day. No result would surprise me when those players match up because they're so close in skill level. Obviously on certain maps and in certain settings the odds may shift a bit but overall these guys are all just extremely close.

Not too sound too much of a Viper fanboy, but he has always performed better vs Hera than vs Liereyy (The closest set was HC4 Semis 3-4 iirc). A lot of other times Viper has seemed to put on a level where he destroyed Hera in Dark age (HC3 finals, NAC3 finals, Warlords - the guy had that "imma kill you" face on and was just unshakable)

Could just be stylistically, as hera is such a macro oriented player while liereyy is more deadly when it comes to feudal age aggression (He won most games vs peak Viper in TGM in feudal age), and the later the game goes, the more comfortable TheViper gets.

I don't know if this is possible but I would love to see a chart where we could see these players head-to-head and see how long each game goes and who wins.

My bet would be Viper wins majority of the games in imp or mid-castle onwards vs Liereyy, while Liereyy wins him earlier (feudal till early castle or maybe a fast imp)

Viper vs Hera stylistically is better suited for Viper, they play the same approach but Viper comes out on top somehow due to overall RTS knowledge (maybe because Hera is more meta/prefers standard approached and standard maps which he grinds on the ladder).

Hera-Lierrey however, its more closer than you would think. It's always gone to the Decider game for the two of them. Since they are practice partners, they always somehow end up playing similar approaches. (which is interesting because say in a map like arabia, Liereyy might be aiming for the feudal aggro while Hera would be able to match it and Viper may be struggling there, but Hera might get stronger late castle onwards while Viper gets God-Tier)

TL;DR: Liereyy is the deadliest of the 3 in feudal age, Viper is the deadliest in imperial age or the later the game goes, and Hera is like more (adaptive?) He can do both (although he usually goes hussar in imp and if it works it works), but hera matches better vs Liereyy's strongest age than Viper, i.,e in feudal age, Viper might crumble to Liereyy, while Hera can keep up. But Viper keeps getting stronger and stronger castle age onwards.
