I think Vipers dinasty is oficially over. He just posted on twitter he felt shaky. You have have a dinasty, lose in quarter finals and feel shaky playing some kid.

Makes sense. I think for the first time since watching AOE and seeing Viper on camera this was the first time I've seen him not only concetrated but a bit nervous.
Hes still the best AOE player ever, pillar of the community and will win many more tournaments - but his domination is over and has been arguably since the last Hidden Cup.

Surprised to see this a little but somewhere not as well. I know Magnus Carlsen said he doesn’t believe anyone can ever get over their nerves 100%. Means a lot when someone like him says that.

That always affected Viper a lot, but usually in a positive way. It made/makes the difference between 300 apm and 400 apm basically. This time it affected his decision making negatively and maybe let him delete a villager in g1. Difficult to judge that from distance.

This is just a theory but i think that viper overloaded his wrist, the previous week during his concentration camp and then practicing more during the event, when he first got into the computer he gave it a massage to his wrist unlike previous encounters so i guess he was feeling something else(for those with issues with the wrist the hand gets slower and heavy even if the pain is acceptable), so deleting that villager was probably cause his hand was too slow and it couldn't follow his mental game, he also got a bit frustrated in all his face expressions, the games by themselves wasn't lierey playing amazing but it was viper playing slow compared to his previous games, so that would explain why he got shaky cause he wasn't confident with his own hand.

As seen in hc4 for viper playing for extended periods or game sessions his performance tends to decrease, but anyway it is just a theory for someone with a wrist issue, at the end of the day he could have had a bad day just like the lord.

It's great that he is banned, he was saying a lot of controversial things.

It's great that he is banned, yes, because most of his posts were low quality bait and some of his recent posts were disgusting racist/hateful remarks and I'm glad to see he was removed from here.
However "saying controversial things" should never be a reason for banning.

He is a top 4 player and hasn't been a clear #1 for quite a long time. I think Hera and Liereyy are the top 2 and TheViper and Mr. Yo are the top 4 (they just don't have the speed/APM that the top 2 guys have). Villese and TatoH are top 6.

Viper is still the best player in the world, the difference is simply the margins have narrowed a lot, and he is not longer untouchable as he used to be pre-2020.

Hera and Liereyy are great players too and perhaps even more so in Empire Wars settings, but they haven't won many 1v1 tournaments in the past 12 months...

Fair point. Was just a little mad at Viper for once again shitting the bed and playing like a greedy boomer, even though that strategy almost never works out for him (especially in Empire Wars).

I think the issue is that he *didn't* play like a greedy boomer. In 2 of the games he lost, he went for some quasi-greed half-boom half-aggression plan, which just doesn't work.
Especially the Acclivity game, he tried to go 2TC and also mass knights, but that is just never going to work against a walled Xbow player.
Maybe what the Snake needs is to embrace his greedy roots, either go full aggro or full greed, because the half-way attempt of both doesn't seem to work

I don't know what happen to Viper but his performance in semi final was nightmare and lacks presence. How long did he made it? 3 Minutes, and only played one map? Expected more from him - but shoutout to Villese for taking over after Viper disappeared.
