Is the Dynasty of AOE4 over?

I wounder if AOE4 is a Ded Game already. Every time i visit AOE4 Twitch site, its the same 2-3 People with big Accounts there. If i look to AOE2 Twitch Page, it always has WAY more viewers and not to mention the people who follow (900k vs 100k) the sites.

Thats kind of the issue. Only 1 major tournament this year announced so far, and the prizepool was split with a TG tournament (so it's slightly smaller than last year)

Of course it's over for Aoe4.
Last year's tournaments had so much money in them, because of the long term contracts signed during or shortly after release, when the game had its hype phase. This year's tournaments are the result of last year's viewership and since we know, Aoe4 pulled way less numbers than anticipated, many sponsors bailed out and here we are today. It's going to be less and less going forward and Aoe4 will be on the same niche level than Aoe3 in a year or two.

But then again, it was clear from the start that this game will fail and was only kept alive due to huge outside money investement. Streamers, who were blind to it and left Aoe2 to focus on that game lost many followers during that time. Own fault.

In my opinion Aoe4 went in the same trap as Aoe3 did. It tried too much to be its own game instead of building on the massive success of Aoe2.
Look at what Aoe2 did when they made that. They never tried to be different then Aoe1, they just tried to be a better version.
Aoe4 is still a good game though, just not on the same level as Aoe2. And i believe it still will have a player scene for many years to come.

AoE3 didn't need to come out. AoE2 was the perfect game to continue development for and continue selling expansions for. If it continues to sell expansions to this day 20 years later, imagine if they hadn't stopped with the Conquerors. Unbelievable misstep by ES and Microsoft.

There was little young me making that exact same argument on the HeavenGames forums 20 years ago. But did anybody listen? Nope!! When even a dumb teen had more business sense than these self-ascribed business geniuses.

And now that everyone involved in that AoE3 debacle has left, they've literally repeated the same ****ing mistake with AoE4...another game that did not need to come out. You can't make this s*it up.

I'm gonna make it LOUD and very CLEAR for any new geniuses that might read this: You can't beat AoE2. You just can't. It's the perfect game, its only flaws are within the actual coding such pathfinding, bugs, balance etc but those can be worked on over time. Overall as an entity it can't be beat. So stop being stupid and get with the program.

You can either join the success of AoE2 and keep building upon it or you can get the **** out of the way. It's up to you because at the end of the day you'll only look like a fool thinking you can outdo AoE2. Straight to the dustbin of history you'll go.
