AOE4 has been out for a few weeks now and players are starting to get a good understanding of the civs and their new mechanics. While civs you may expect to be strong in AoE2 (French, English) are still strong in AoE4, one glaring discrepancy is clear, that the Chinese are often rated as the worst civ in the game. A large factor I often see attributed to the Chinese's low ranking is the dynasty system, a more expensive alternative to aging up which has niche and often impractical uses. Compared to the concise and streamlined bonuses of the more powerful civs, the dynasty mechanic is ultimately too little too late in most games.
With the dynasty mechanic being the key feature for the Chinese civ, while simultaneously being the cause of it's demise, do we think the AoE4 Dynasty mechanic is over? or will it become meta one day and the Chinese will rise to the S-Tier dominance that we are used to?
