I'd say it's the best, I watched every single match, which is never the case for other tournaments, especially single map tournaments can be super mundane.
The production is perfect, no stoppages between games, the GSL group stage is easy to understand.

But the most important are players performances, a few sets I can't help but watch twice. (Hey, $$$ motivates)
Daut's best performance in years.
Villese putting on a show, I would never hv thought of Villese as a type of guy that would castle drop on opponent's literal face.
I'm a Viper fan, but seeing him get rekt by Yo (Mr. 14-0) is always a guilty pleasure.
Lieerryyyy overcoming a bababoom to win a deciding game.
and much more....

And then hving open qualifiers is the correct direction for the future of AOE. Having Chart vs Stray Dog in top 16 by itself makes KOTD3 better than KOTD1,2, NAC, HC.

I think KOTD3 is one of the greatest tournaments ever but for me HC3 is still the best. Not because of playstyles or anything but just not knowing who is who was so funny and nice to watch. Also variety of maps is a good thing imo

for me its the exact opposite, these kind of discussions about whos best, or who will beat who are only possible on NAC and KotD, on HC you have to actually wait till the tourney is over to do it lol... It kinda 'ruins' it for me

Since red bull and kotd, we don't need to pretend anymore, we got the real thing... this is why kotd is superior.

If it wasn't for the huge prizepool, HC would not be considered a serious tournament. KOTD on the other hand is all about the competition. Therefore KOTD has the most prestige out of all the tournaments. NAC is mainly a social happening. Depending on what you like, there is something for each taste. If you come for the most competitive and professional games, KOTD is your choice.

I agree about HC. But last one have an impressive level all around. It was top competition for sure.

NAC is the same, is not a fun tournament or social one... is TOP competition.

For methe 3 tournaments have shown TOP competition. We can learn from the 3 of them and come out with something "optimal" if you want. But the fact is that every one has his own good spot, beeing HC the most "dangerous" in terms of good competition, since seeding is random and that is just not good for competition.

Anyhow, 3 tournaments are amazing and this one is showing some sick level. Ofc some stuff to improvee, but open qualification is AMAZING, and memb trying new stuff is also. Time will come to balance and make conclutions. For now,we have viper out and lierey coming back to his top level slowly (and lierey on his final form will beat ANYONE including viper on his final form, so lets ****ing enjoy that).

And villese... gogogo! the dream is there!

Any map without at least Arena in the map pool is not the best one for me. The best ones have arena as only map, because it's strategically most interesting map for me. Also, I always heavily prefer 1v1 to TG tournaments, at least as a spectator.

Out of the big 3 three RM tournaments, for me, it goes NAC>KOTD>>>HC. I prefer NAC the most because I like diverse map pools with most populart competitive map that allow many viable civ picks. KOTD gets boring after a while, because it's all Arabia that's being played on 99% of the tournaments, but I still love the the hype that the tournament brings. And HC... is just not a tournament that I enjoy. I only watched the finals each year and since the map pool has been bad from the start, I never liked one bit of it.

well.. i think thats to easy.
maybe if Hera and Liereyy practiced more or liereyy just didnt lose vs Daut, and Daut just didnt lose vs Villese... but that is: WHAT IF,
if you want to win a tournament, just dont lose, and alwasy come prepared. thats how simple it is

It is thanks to Dauts preparation that he won vs Liereyy, and thanks so Villeses amazing prep that he won vs Daut and Tatoh, and like mbl said in his interview, he had to change his tactics because if he would played like Villese probably predicted he would have a serious hard time

Everyone is at the place they deserved, thanks to their own amazing play.

I don't think they all have to be considered to be exactly the same level to be the standout events of the AoEII calendar. Of the examples given, snooker's World Championship and cycling's Tour de France are both widely considered to be the single most important event in their sport, but there is still considered to be a 'Triple Crown'. Living in Britain, my perception could be a little distorted as far as the tennis goes, but I get the impression that many people consider Wimbledon to be ever so slightly more prestigious than the other slams.

I think the vast majority of the community probably agrees that these are our biggest events and that they're played on relatively competitive settings, along with whatever other criteria you might want to include to classify them as 'majors'. Any differences within that over which specifically is 'best' don't really matter.

Today was aguasome. I felt really happy for Lierey but at the same time felt really sad for Yo. Truly a series that neither player deserved to lose.
