Get yourself a decent beard oil, with all natural ingredients. Honest Amish is my favourite brand, but I've taken to making my own lately. That's the main thing you'll need, it'll keep the skin healthy and the beard nice and soft. Don't use shampoo or face wash on it, unless it's a beard shampoo. The shampoo will dry out your skin and the face wash will dry out your beard.
I also occasionally use beard balm, it works a lot like the oil but has a bit of a hold to it. I've recently started using beard wax as well, but that's not necessary unless it gets wild (I've got naturally curly hair, sometimes it looks like I've got really long pubes on my face if I don't put product in it).
If you're growing the mustache too, obviously get a mustache wax and start training it now, otherwise that ****'s gonna be all up in your mouth for months. Don't ever trim it unless you plan on keeping it short, that's where I went so horribly wrong.
Most importantly, get a good comb! None of that plastic ****, find a good wood or bone comb and a boar hair brush (avoid synthetic unless your vegan, but if you're vegan you're probably not growing a beard).
There's some good beard related channels on youtube, especially if you plan on growing it long. Beardfellows and The Beard Baron are my favourites.

Like a real hipster, CondoM.
But how do you keep that beard clean? I have a beard myself but far shorter... your beard is too long for me haha.
