Hi, first off thank you for your interest.
I know that Tokiwamiao, aka pietan in Japanese aoc communities, is a well known player in Japan. But I don't think players in the world know about you so much. So I'm going to ask some questions including about yourself.
Tokiwamiao:
Thank you, too!
Well it dosen't only seem about myself, but also AoC in Japan is not very known either.
I'll gladly answer these kind of questions.
iPhone:
OK!
As the first question, can you introduce yourself? like where you live, your job or your hobby.
Tokiwamiao:
I'm currently a university student, living in Sapporo city, Hokkaido prefecture in Japan. I like to play Shogi, that's like Japanese chess, and piano.
iPhone:
How is that city? I simply know that there's lots of food and heavy snow in winter.
Tokiwamiao:
That almost explains it, haha.
We have much nature here and delicious food. It's really comfortable to live but heavy snow in the winter...
iPhone:
I see! It's often said that the nature in Hokkaido is one of the best and attractive stuff in Japan.
So, we're starting to talk about AOC. How did you start playing this game?
Tokiwamiao:
OK, let's do that!
Well I started it about 8 years ago, idk?
I had liked a Historical simulation game made in Japan before, but somehow I saw that AoC was recommended in a BBS of the game. So I tried to start playing it a bit, and now I still am :P
iPhone:
Oh OK lol Did you use to play with your friends?
Tokiwamiao:
Yeah, but I was not getting satisfied with only the games with the friends thus I decided to join Japanese aoc communities.
iPhone:
I suppose you've not been as good as kumruke, dirty or halen until recently. Now you are.
When did you become "good" at this game?
Tokiwamiao:
Although I became an over-intermadiate player when I had played about three years, I could never beat those players then.
I got good like I am now about a few years since I started playing on voobly and play on tournaments as a member of PoJ.
iPhone:
I see. So I guess there've been lots of intermediate players in our community since then.
Speaking of voobly, you've gotten some great award in Master of Arena, The Medieval Wars and such.
So what is your favorite civ, map and strategy?
Tokiwamiao:
Yeah, in arabia 4v4, there are still lots of good players in Japan.
Though I had been lucky in those tournaments, I was so honoured that I got those prizes.
I don't have favorite civs but I prefer ones that have a bonus in dark age. The map is of course Arabia! I like forwarding when I'm pocket. I want it to be a popular strategy in voobly as well as in Japanese community.
iPhone:
Haha yeah it's actually rare to see pocket forwarding in voobly games.
So We didn't only get the great userpatch but also we're having two big tournaments. It means AOC is still alive and heating up!
Do you have any aspiration about it?
Tokiwamiao:
I did never expect that AOC would evolve like that and get so many new big tournaments.
You know, we're having "The Tournament in honor of the application of Userpatch in the Japanese community" and that's going really good so far. It also made Japanese players interested in the world AOC games.
I'd also like to join the world games as one of the best Japanese players and show players my active role like once halen and orion fought the world players.
And I hope Japanese players will join the games by seeing us.
iPhone:
That is really awesome! We can easily see that you guys are making an effort for that in the recent tourny games.
And finally you DID BEAT RVK! I was really excited and impressed with the match!
iPhone:
So, you are not only a good player, you write some tips for players in Japanese and that's really great for us.
What is the most important thing to become good at this game like experts?
Tokiwamiao:
Of course the basic things like economy and micro control of armies is very important though, I believe that "perspective" is the one to level up from intermediate level.
You have to play with thinking a plan everytime and by staying conscious of the map and tactics.
Especially in team games there is cooperation, attaking other enemies and such. Anyway you need the consciousness of the whole map and the whole game.
iPhone:
I got it well. kkab also said that map control is the most important thing to become over 2k. So I got planning and perspective are really important in a game.
Oh well sorry for sticking you for a while. This is the last one.
Please tell people who cheers PoJ anything!
Tokiwamiao:
PoJ was really really tiny team when it was found. Now we are one of the best team in the world.
I know that we still suck at personal skill such as 1v1 but we have the TEAMWORK to cover it.
We will still show you our carrying by this great teamwork. Don't miss and Look out for it, please!!
iPhone:
Sure, I'm also cherring you a lot as a fan =)
That's all our interview.
Thank you for taking your time and this great time!
Tokiwamiao:
Thanks, too!
