TaToH explains what he likes about playing on Steam, the challenges of the MoMR tournament and his three favorite civilizations for the job at hand.
Easy 2:0 victories over Skittle and Vinchester. Surprised how smooth it went so far? You and Pike are the only two players that won all of their games.
TaToH: I would not say any victory is easy against those opponents, I've been a bit lucky with civilization + map combo. I do feel comfortable with my performance so far though.
Whenever someone talks about favorites to win the tournament in a stream chat someone mentions you and talks about your MR experience on HD. Do you feel you are one of the favorites to win it all? Who do you expect to make deep runs?
TaToH: Castle Age start is tricky, and every game is really different, so is not like you can play always one style. This makes the game funnier for the viewers but at this level sometimes its really hard to take decisions in a short period of time, and even harder to take the right one. So I don't feel like a favorite at all, but I'll give everyone who plays vs me a hard time. I have the advantage that I know most of the maps.
How valuable is the experience you got from playing on Steam and what do you enjoy about playing there? You are one of the few high level players that host and compete not exclusively on Voobly.
TaToH: I play mostly on Steam because its actually easy to play there. Most of the time I host a lobby and I'm playing before 5 minutes. That is really hard to do on Voobly at a high level on my play time. Also I play totally relaxed, without any pressure at all. At least for me, playing a lot of games at high levels is a bit stressful, and HD is like an escape way for that.
You have seen a lot of different MR maps: Do you have a favorite type of map yet? Something you wish to not see at all when you play?
TaToH: I prefer all mixed maps, if they have land connections even better. I'd never want to play a closed map like BF (there are some on MR). I hope I don't find anyone of those in my remaining games....
We have seen a lot of different build orders for the Caste Start games so far. Have you figured out the best way to play the new settings yet? Do you like them?
TaToH: As I said, you need to think fast taking into consideration your civilization, your opponent's civilization and read the map correctly. If it was just one map we would probably find out a perfect BO for this at the end of the tournament, but playing MR you can't figure out a BO even when starting on Dark Age... I'm really enjoying this settings so far, they are weird and make players play outside their comfort zone, and that's something I love.
If you'd be allowed to pick three different civilizations for this which would you pick and why?
TaToH:
1) Spanish: Build bonus. They don't need gold for blacksmith. Conquistadors are always a pain in the butt and they have all trash units fully upgraded.
2) Britons: TC cheaper makes this civilization really hard to push on early game with a low amount of resources, also their xbow range already on Castle can make the difference.
3) Mayans: I was wondering if I should put Aztecs or Mayans. Eagles make a big difference, they kill scouts easy and they are cheaper. I'd rather pick Mayans just because of Plums and the longer lasting resources.
