Hello guys. I always read this forum and played AOE2 since 2003. This is my first post because i really need to unburden.
I have wonderful memories with this game, like playing the game on my dad's office (cause I didn't had a good computer) or having fun games with my friends on school computer class.
I don't know how much time I played AOE2, but it's a lot. Like really a lot.
Since 2014 I started to play AOE2 online on Steam and after that I entered on Voobly because of the online problems on AOE2 HD. First i tought this was a new and vibrant adventure on my favorite game. And for 4 or 6 months it really was.
The problem started when I realized i couldn't go along with the community. But what this means? Well, i'm a teacher and i can't play AOE2 everyday. Actually sometimes i can't play this game for weeks!!! And everytime i try to return, i just get frustrated.
It's not about win or lose. It's not about be good or be bad. Would be amazing to improve myself but I know it's impossible with my life. The problem is: we don't have a middle term of new players and experienced players. I consider myself a experienced player (but not good), and everytime I play against new players i won (something like 80% i win by a lot). Ok... fine... let's try be better. I just can't! More than 10 times i tried to improve, and sometimes really did it, but because I have to stop play for long periods, when i return it's like i'm bad again. I can't find casual players, and most of the games I have to play against good player or smurfs.
Worst than that, team games have so much lag, people going out because of the internet and trash talking dudes that I'm not motivated anymore playing with other guys.
Where the casual players? RM/DM section on Voobly is a terrible place. Or you invest hours of your life getting better, or you should just quit. That's what I learned.
Sorry for the wall text. The right decision is just to quit, because i'm not having more fun with AOE2. I really can't remember the last game i played and thought it was a really good game. I really love AOE2, but this is destroying even my motivation to see pro games and championships. I really think i'm done.
Well, sorry guys and thanks. This post represents for me the end, i guess, and i'm kinda happy posting that, even i know this will be pretty boring for you folks.
