a team tournament (min 4 ppl per team). 4 x 1v1, 2 x 2v2, when the score is 3-3 they will play a 3v3/4v4. so it is a mix of 1v1's and tg's.
I think it’s a great ideamixing 1v1 & TG is not the best idea.
Round Robin is the most fair
First of all, what does GSL stand for? I can’t comment on that one further obviously
i was skeptical about the maps before the tournament started but now i am really enjoying the maps except for one time between brazil and sy where there was no woodlines left after minute 50 on duststop trying to innovate with maps, i know you wanna be the coolest guy around, but there's already a huge pool from you to choose, a pool that the players are familiar with and are proving to result in exciting games. Also stop being stubborn and listen to the experts more, BoA maps were called out very early to be horrible and no change was made.
GSL-style tournament format refers to the group stage --> single elimination playoffs format used by the Global Starcraft League (GSL).

Essentially the groups in the group stage function as mini double elimination brackets, with two players moving on and two players dropping out. Getting 1st/2nd place in your group determines seeding for the next stage.

After GSL you could do a Single or Double Elimination Stage.Well where do you go after GSL?
if you go to a system where there are different "variables" such as players facing different opponents, it isn't more "fair."
What do you base your statement that the pointless matches usually are between people who are already out of it on? But even if it only happens in a small percentage of the cases, it still can discredit that entire tournament. And players might want to spoiler the leader, but how do you know that's the case and that he doesn't want the second place to lose? It's just a major flaw in the system that a player who is already out of the tournament can "decide" who he wants to win the tournament.RR usually the pointless matches are between people who are already out of it, whereas otherwise people feel they have something to play for or they can play spoiler to a leader
Single elimination means players face different opponents (like Edie dying to trusher) which is less "fair" than everyone facing the same opponents (round robin or group). Not sure what you mean by this.

I think the most "fair" system would be a GSL System followed by a Double Elimination Bracket.Single elimination means players face different opponents (like Edie dying to trusher) which is less "fair" than everyone facing the same opponents (round robin or group).
I agree though for aoe2 I prefer single elimination to finish it out, but I was just arguing that it is less "fair."
I really forgot to say, I been missing A LOT:
- 1v1 open tournament with map pack+home map, like COT, or wsvg. Lately we just got arabia, or Arabia invitational, or arena or invitational TG or nation cup i miss 1v1 tournament with mappack and home map, really a lot.
