The issue I foresee is that the ranked community is just too small at this stage and splitting people up into different queues will result in nobody finding a good game. I think it's important to get people out of their comfort zones and into new maps. I like the challenge myself. I think it's important to break the mold. That being said, I get it. Some of the maps in the pool suck, and it's soul crushing to play them. I don't know what the proper solution is at the moment, but single-map queues aren't it. Maybe a ranked option for lobby games?

Off Topic But Something I've Been Thinking About: The fact that you can pick civ in ranked is what has limited the civ pool in the eyes of many. Back in my day you had to play random or be kicked. The truth is there were always civs that were just good on certain maps. The current devs had no hand in making that a reality.

So far this is my favourite map pool. I can ban all the maps I don't like and only pog islands is the questionable one. I haven't drawn it once so far.

I unbanned Ara, Kilimanjaro, Mountain Pass, Golden Pit, and Bog islands. Solid lineup of maps in my opinion. Got everything, the classic map, a very open map, a full land nomad map, probably the best golden map and maybe the only water/hybrid map I'm ok with.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when it comes to PLAYING IT, Arabia is a map that is kinda viewed as okay/tolerated by intermediate players, and loathed by low-level players.

It always baffled my to see people here (and before AoCZone), cheering for this map, calling it the best AoE2 map of all time, when the general multiplayer community is kinda lukewarm on playing it, barring semi-pro and pro players.

Thus, I don't think we need any more Arabia or Arabia-like maps in the map pool, really.

Both things you're saying are the exact same, it just depends on how many choices they give you.

with unlimited choices, yes agree both ban and pick serve same purpose. The issue right now is that there is too many garbage maps and too few bans.

for TGs you get 1 ban while all most people want to play is Arabia, BF, Nomad or Arena.

What would help is if players could ban the same amount of maps but get to select a favourite, If both player have the same favourite map they play that map, if both players have different favourites it still has a bigger chance to show up (unless the other player bans it). I still think we should have a bigger mappool becouse playing the same 5 maps for a month is kinda boring.

Yeah it is kinda ridiculous that maps like Mediterranean and Coastal are not consistently there like Arabia.
