Match making for tgs isn't funny, they force you to play maps you don't want as you have limited bans, you can't choose players in order to get fair teams or avoid disgusting players such as smurfs or cheaters.

So yeah, the game that you claim is meant to be fun it is not!!

If players don't want to make the effort to play 30 1vs1 to have an Elo that would allow them to make cleaner TGs, then their place is not in Ranked but in Custom Lobby.

Maybe, but probably huge batch of team players have <30 games or like 50 1v1 in 2.5 years or something it is for DE, so possibly losing so many ppl would be terrible decision too. Placements isnt that big of the issue, though would be good if it would take 1v1 rating if player have 30+ games, but bigger issue is family share accounts, many people have few accounts, like 1 account playing with one group of friends, another with other group, as people of those groups have very different ratings. Lets say one group mostly ~1k, another 2k and player is ~1.7k, so that same player can play many games in those 2 super different in elo groups.

Although as someone said, ppl still can lose all those 30 games and it would be same exact thing as it is now.

Well the amount of people who intentionally might manipulate their TG rating by losing placement matches would be quite low, if we are being real. Most smurfs won't have the patience to go through so many games just to get placed (and even if they do, once they're banned they have to repeat the process, which takes a lot more time than just making another smurf/family account)

I am actually down for 20-30 placement matches. Do it, most aoe players play 1000s of games anyway, and if someone who just wants to "Chill" can go ahead and play quickplay - that is what that mode is meant for.

Nobody is forcing you to play the placement matches, if you want a "quick" game = go to "quick"play 11

As for the placement matches, as long as it places people fairly in terms of their elo/skill for both 1v1 and TGs

I was never talking about your proposal (as you would realize, if you actually read what people are writing). My point was and is, that you just assume that your view on tg matchmaking is shared by everybody; and it is clearly not, and you should acknowledge that if you want to have any meaningful discussion instead of ranting around.
To your point: In my opinion, these 30 1v1 games wouldn't change anything (other than to discourage a lot of players to play ranked tg at all), because the main thing is not the tg elo but the matchmaking algorithm with its priorities (which, again, many people agree with, otherwise the devs would have a serious problem with customer satisfaction, and, seemingly, they don't).

You forgot the people just wanting to que up with there friends...

Just imagine a friend of yours getting the game to play some 2v2 with you and you going "oh yeah but you have to play 1v1 first for 30h just so we can play together" I am sure this would go great and not at all stop people from even starting to play the game.

Most of these people would obviously just never even start playing a game with such a stupid barrier but the rest would just lose 30 games as fast as possible. (and for good reason)

That would still be very off-putting to a lot of people. I know I've only played something like three solo queue TGs in total, because I play TGs as much for a social experience as anything else. Forcing me to play 30 solo queue games first would probably see me take three months over it because of how unattractive it is. Doubtless many people who play more casually would not even bother at all.

To use my friend Paint's example, the two players could simply go and create their own lobby, play the maps they want, against the people they want. Without having to worry about ranking or anything.

And the advantage is that the worse they are, the easier they will find opponents. (Voobly showed us that it works like this)

We need to look beyond what we have already experienced to find a better solution.

The Voobly system wasn't perfect, and neither is the current one. As long as we don't try something else, we'll be stuck in this mess...

Disagree. If you don't want to talk to someone in a lobby, simply !mute them or kick them. Voobly showed you will always find someone else within a few minutes even if u have to kick 1 or 2 people who u don't want to play bc of rating/proxy server/ping (tbh back in voobly it was a struggle to even load the game many times bc some random 3rd guy would join in the 5 second countdown 11)

The only upside I find of MM over lobby is that it is quick. But there's ten thousand bad things to go with that - unfair elos, unfair server, forced map/civ picks, can't really choose opponent, etc. All of those issues go away with the lobby system, albeit at the cost of a few extra minutes. I would take that anyday.

That was an AoK thing right? I thought I heard Daut talking about that years ago and how it was op and fun. If it was, I have no idea about it. I went straight to conquerors pretty much. I played the AoK demo before release but it was just William Wallace campaign and things like Imperial Age was locked. Maybe Barbarossa campaign too.

And that combination is ridiculous.

Of course, you have every right to react to offenses, streamer or not, but you started the "rough talk", and that is just bad marketing for you as a streamer, imho.

my earliest memories of aoe2 is playing AoK on a LAN with a close friend of mine and him luring my scout into his tc 11. He was also the one who gave me a copy of AoK and AoC, and I remember playing AoK vs the AI, og 5 campaigns. Back then lots of things were different, vils would stop after making mining camp, not auto work so u had to manually send them to work. Teuton TCs had 11 range (6+5) and +2 attack 11

That’s cool. Now I see why Daut said the tcs were broken, that’s insane.

My earliest memories is that demo which must’ve been 98 or even sometime before release in 99. My bro and I had already played Age 1 so one day, one of his friends had and decided to bring the AoK demo over and we all took turns with the William Wallace campaign for around 3 hours. Then I never saw that demo again, but later saw the game when it was released in the center of Walmart for $50. Thought my dad would never buy it for me for that price, so never asked. Fast forward sometime after when Conquerors was released, somehow there was a sale for it and AoK for $20, that one worked out. Ended up liking the game/campaigns so much I pretended to puke one day to avoid school so I could play it all day. Good times. Sadly regret never trying to find out about playing it online around release despite playing Starcraft rated for awhile, but was mostly into the scens.

Good luck with CS (studying EE too by any chance?). Not to crap on it, but to quote the Dalai Lama, it feels more like a dry science 11. Seems hard that way.
