Before I say anything, I just wanna make it clear that I don't mind using my own picture as profile photo, here or on twitter or discord or any other Aoe Platform which I use to interact with the community as it is just me and my face who I am potentially exposing to the Internet. However, FaceBook is another story.
I spent the last hour or so trying to create another page on Facebook (another persona using my twitch/discord nick) and have been working around all the privacy settings and such, and I have yet to come to a conclusion whether Facebook will truly be a safe place to watch streams. And my concern is not the actual streamer or well known community members, its just that it is so easy for any random person on the internet to stalk you, and FaceBook is a place where we post personal information, photos of close family and friends, and I am not sure if I would want them to have the same exposure to the Internet as me. (and by that I mean being an integral part of an online community)
We all know how toxic and unsafe internet can be at times. For that reason, I am glad platforms like Discord and Twitch exist because it allows us to be safe from strangers exploiting us (Also gives rise to toxic people who can say anything to u and get away but at least they have less chances of finding out all the information of your family to the T!)
Now that TheViper and T90 have moved to FBGaming, I am sure a lot of us will migrate over there, as much as some of us might hate that. What I am curious about is anyone else worried about their Online persona getting mixed up with their IRL persona? How easy would it be for some random troll in the chat to pick a chat member, find the personal account linked to the Gaming Page we created, and send inappropriate messages/phishing links/cyberbully friends and family? I fs dont want my grandparents to deal with an online predator who found their profile bc of me
Anyone else having concerns like these feel free to give me suggestions on using FBGaming as a safer place
