quali player in the finals, this is why 8 spots is too many! 4 invited only would be fine
Yes, but on the other hand all other quali players lost once they met an invited player. Only 1/8 quali players won vs invited players.quali player in the finals, this is why 8 spots is too many! 4 invited only would be fine
I don't think the winner would have time to sit through all the games. Most of their guesses would be "i have no clue, haven't watched them play"Not sure if that's still doable or even if others would agree that it's the right idea but:
I think it'd be great if instead of revealing player identities at the end by the round they lost in, ie. losers of ro16 -> losers of ro8 -> top 4 we'd have first the reveal for the top 2(or only the winner), and then the winner(s) would get a chance to participate in the reveal of the rest of the bracket and make their own guesses along, just as it had been the case with, for example, HC2
I feel like this could add some more personality aspect into this tournament and simply allow viewers to get an insight into maybe how actual participants of the tournament approached guessing identities of players they faced against. After all that's where we got the legendary "U KNOW ME???" line from that is a popular meme to this day
perhaps I have missed it but I haven't seen any reply to this:
why the hell did the tournament organisers go for that weird "set g4/g7"-maps?
I'm not saying Hera won the semi undeserved but removing the possibility of playing all your prepared homemaps vs your opponents is quite a disadvantage and also makes the civdraft super-weird (at least extendn it so that players have +1 or 2 civs to choose?), I can't see a reason why this would make sense?
What do you mean? It was totally funnyI don't mean to hate on the event, because I really enjoyed watching all the games, but there was one thing that kept nagging at me.
Does this tournament want to take itself seriously? The quality casting, the prize pool, the level and preparation of the players, and the admin work says yes. Some of the stream gimmicks say no.
I was not a big fan of the troll fun facts / stats if I'm totally honest. As an aoe2 regular I obviously know that it's trolling, but for any newcomer it will only be confusing and unprofessional.
Same with the trolling during the reveal video. Putting aside the fact that the last 4 players got leaked before the video (it was an accident, let's move on), the disconnect bit felt very out of place. I was full of emotion and hyped to see the upcoming players, then that comes and I just get confused. All the emotion is gone, and I pretty much have to force myself to get back into this mental state again. Trolling during arguably the most important moment of the hidden cup was unprofessional and completely ruined the moment.
@MaSmOrRa
I understand the point from Daut and Viper about preaparation but that would kill the essence of HIDDEN cup in my opinion. It's created for us to be entertained but the participants should struggle as well finding out who they are facing.
If anything I would want all games ( or except for the live final ) to be played before the host casts the games so that their epic plans like Turks on hideout 2 can surprise the enemy.
