Hera to stop streaming AoE2/4, decides to focus on League of Legends

If Hera enjoys LoL more, good for him. He should do what he enjoys. And there's lot more money in LoL as well, so probably good choice in that regard as well. Of course competition will be tougher as well.

Didn’t know about Hera switching (don’t pay much attention to other topic). I thought Yo used to grind League seriously like 8 years ago, wonder how good he got at it. Dunno if he still does too.

Good luck to him. He sounds awfully disillusioned with AOE at the moment so can’t blame moving away if he’s not being challenged and that’s where he gets his enjoyment from.

Its an absolute massive risk and can respect the balls in moving. He’s going from being a very big fish in a small pond, to a small fish in a HUUUUUGE pond.

There's more money but also a lot more competition to share it with. Hera is an entertaining streamer but the LoL content creator scene is pretty stacked with people who are both talented streamers AND very good at the game, so yeah he will need to git gud.

There's a non-zero chance he comes back to AoE2 within a year. The LoL grind has its own problems

The problem is the ladder. Maybe if we could have some sort of 125k league that makes players play for 3 months.

I find his video good and transparent. He does stream for living and if he doesnt find the daily matches interesting, there is nothing he can do.

Here I was a couple of days ago wanting to make a thread about "Whats going on with Hera".

So here we have it. I'm pretty sad to hear it. Thats one huge stream not doing AOE II anymore, or maybe a couple of TG. A bit worrying and sad at the same time. I totally get Heras point. Its sad for the viewer though. Wishing you all the best, Hera, do what do you love.
At least I'm glad that we're keeping him in the AOE II tournaments. I hope that his level does not suffer as much.

But I find it very concerning when high level streamers leave or become less active when the viewer numbers go up.
I hope the devs notice that the game is going backwards for high level multiplayer with DE.

he will be back, when he realizes the competition is way too strong to be a pro gamer there. He can't live on mediocraty in LoL, because his viewernumbers will drop and then he'll be back to AoE 2 again.
I remember larry said in one stream he had like 4-5 k elo in Dota2, which was (idk the current ranking system) very high and he still was miles away from pro level. It's incredible difficult to get to pro lvl in those kind of games, since millions play it.

What about a winner stays on type of showmatch?
-First week ladder #1 vs #2, winner gets the crown and grabs lets say $200.
-Second week the remaining highest ranked player at the time challenges the champion.
-Rinse and repeat until new patch.
-Problem is the very top players might not be that motivated as couple hundred dollars arent that much.
