A lot of people apparently dislike the individual and/or feel obligated to provide life advice where it is not sought and there is a lack of moderation when it comes to flame-baiting.

Also, lots of creeps who are borderline stalkerish of people just for using a feature of the game as if them doing so is what is keeping them down, subjugating them from obtaining their own personal meaningless AOE2 status/ELO.

The post was made for one reason: looking for a sponsor; then it became a picking civ essay.
If i can give you a personal opinion or suggestion, i would not leave university. As i said already, i dont feel like im anything special or skilled at the game, i just had a very good approach at learning it. i was able to accomplish that while still playing football for money and having a social live (not a crazy one with parties everyday, which i dont like, but a decent one). Right now i dont play 15 games a day as i used to do in school's last years, but i still manage to do everything combined. Uni + football + Aoe streaming/coaching/playing/tournaments.
Im not a top player, maybe im not even a decent one, i was top 80 in my highest peak, but it only brought me top 48 in Kotd4, which means 150€. In Italy i would need at least 10 times those money to do this for living. i would dream that as well, but with this current aoe2 state, players who are behind the pros are in a limbo currently.
Said that, im not even 1% of carbo, what a sick football player he was in Catania!

Following your dream is not bad, quite contrary, it is good for you. That being said, leaving university and/or work is bad decision as other said, given the circumstances. Picking civ is nothing to be ashamed of. Definitely no reason to diss someone. Concerning your bad behaviour, we all done that at least once in our lives. But if you wish to be sponsored, try cultivate better public image. Good luck on your path

Don't worry about what people here say @Alperen , most of us here didn't take the risk of becoming pro players by leaving job because we were scared. Don't be a football to people's opinions. You know yourself, just work hard and success will come.

If he was just starting his studies then I have to disagree with many of you, better abandon it instead of wasting 5 years on something you dislike/do not plan your future with.

I am trying to avoid getting involved in things I have nothing to do with, but I think I can raise some points that may be of interest to you. As an important note, this is meant as a helpful comment, and while I have no desire to ruin your dreams, I also have to take the realistic approach here.

I am sorry to say, but what you are asking for is completely unrealistic currently. Finding a consistent sponsor for a streamer is among the hardest things to do. As an example: do you think T90 had a consistent sponsor while he was on Twitch? Not really. Very few people have consistent sponsors like this, in fact, speaking from experiece, this is the hardest thing to get as a streamer. You have to be able to provide a return value for the sponsor. For example, Memb has NordVPN sponsor, which in return gets mentioned X times a stream to hundreds of viewers on a channel that has almost 100k followers. Potential never yields sponsors (unless you show insane potential, which 1 in a million do).

1. Speaking from experience, it takes a very minimum of 6 months to 1 year of work before you get ANY kind of reasonable income from streaming. That is the minimum. The more likely range is 1,5-2 years. I don't want to discourage you but that is reality. Building a channel and a brand is an insane amount of work and no streamer (whether pro player/caster/etc.) gets it done in a day. Go watch the stats of Hera. Despite always being a great/elite player, it took quite a lot of time for him to get his channel going. Not because he did anything wrong, it's because there are things you cannot accelerate in this business, and building a community is one of those.
2. Luck factor: As weird as it sounds, luck is a huge factor in this business. Being lucky with a timing on a video being posted, accidentally having an epic moment on your stream that will have 1 million clip views, etc. Sometimes, these are the things that kickstart streamers. I can tell you that I had a truckload of luck help me to get where I am right now (and I am nowhere close to the likes of T90/Memb/etc.). Think about it this way: do you think T90 ever expected the first forest nothing video to make it to millions of views? Of course not. He got lucky with that and used that to help largen his brand. For this business, you need a lot of luck.
3. Streaming/e-sports is not for everyone. I am really sorry to say this but this is the hard truth. Not everyone has the personality to be a great streamer or the skills to be an e-sports player. Just thing about it this way: hundreds of athletes practice sprinting all day. Yet Usain Bolt always beats all of them. I don't want to shatter dreams but every human has their limitations, and some are simply not fit for such things. IMPORTANT: I am not saying you aren't capable of these, I am saying that it is *possible* you aren't. And if you aren't, then you can't make money out of it.
4. Making money: As I mentioned before, this business is not for everyone. For this reason, you CANNOT approach streaming with the plan to make money on it. Rule #1 of EVERY guide to new streamers: doN't do it for money. It won't work. You won't be making money early, you get burnt out, that makes streams worse, problems pile up. I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT START STREAMING FOR MONEY. Start streaming because you enjoy doing it, and if you can turn it into a side-job, great. You can say I am stupid just like every other streamer that say this, but I do have experience in this business.
5. ALWAYS have a backup plan. This is Rule #2 to streamers. In 2022, literally every kid wants to be a streamer/youtuber/influencer. Just look around on the internet. Every 8 year old is streaming fortnite with the dreams of becoming Ninja. FIne, do it. But don't ignore school. Because what happens if they are not the next Ninja (and they won't be...)? At age 20 they will be without education with no qualifications, and employers won't hire them to any job when their CV only contains experience in fortnite. Same applies to streaming/e-sports. You always need a backup plan, something that you have in case things go badly. And ANYTHING can happen. Take Viper: he started to have wrist-issues. If that ended his career (thankfully it didn't), suddenly, problems arise. COuld happen to anyone.
Just to give you context: I could currently quit the PhD I am doing right now, and would have enough for full-time income from casting/production/YT revenue/other stuff. I don't. Why? It is because I consider it too risky. If anything happens, I could not go back to this PhD, and would lose all my work in it. And I already have a degree, so if all my incomes disappeared tomorrow from AoE, I could still look for a reasonable work because I have a (meaningful) degree that will get me some sort of a job.

I really feel that you are messing up the order. You want to be a fulltime player/streamer and you quit everything BEFORE you make it. That is a terrible idea. Ask yourself the question: what happens if you don't make it? It's great if you do, but what happens if you don'T? And 99.99999% of people don't make it. This is how this industry works. I understand how juicy it looks that you play computer games/stream your games and money starts flying in. But literally everyone on this planet loves this. So you have a couple million competitors.

Short summary: Work comes first, money comes after. Like it or not.

This being said, if you really have that dream, and you wanna work towards that, here are my pieces of advice on how to proceed:

1. Don't consider this a career until you have accomplished something. This can be tournament results, becoming a twitch partner from streaming, etc. If you want to do this, you have to do this alonside your IRL life. Everyone does that. I do a PhD alongside my AoE stuff. Liereyy is doing military service. Memb, T90, etc. all had their day-time jobs when they started streaming and only when they became successful did they quit. Dave is an even better example. FOr how many years was Dave an elite-level AoE caster? Quite a few. He only quit his job before RBW5. Because he understood that he can only quit once he is 200% sure that he has enough income from streaming to survive.
2. Evaluate audience. I don't know much about the turkish community, but here is the deal: if you wanna make money from streaming, you need people that sub/donate, etc. And not everyone who watches will do that. So you need a lot of people who know you, so that some of them will donate/sub. Is the turkish community big enough for that? I doN't know. But if it isn't, then you need to find viewers from elsewhere, like streaming in english. For that you need good communication skills though. As it was written above, you may need to start learning english on a higher level, spending hours each day on it.
3. Improvement on weaknesses: As I wrote above, you may need to learn a lot of things. Not just about playing, but communication, etc. As it was mentioned above, T90, who is a native english speaker took speech classes. I can give you a good context as I am also a non-native speaker just like you. I had really good english knowledge, and even with that, I wasn't that great when I started streaming. It's different to know things and to be able to respond in a fun/engaging manner when distracted (i.e. playing the game). You have to work on this. A lot. I spend 2-3 hours a day on this - doing alongside my PhD, not as a "fulltime streamer" job - doing pronouncation excercises, tongue-twisters, learning new expressions, listening to sports broadcasts for inspiration on phrases that I can use, etc. This is a TON of work. But the good news is that anyone can do it. Some people are born to be great communicators, some don't. I wasn't. So if I ever want to be good at speaking on stream, I have to work towards it a lot.

Overall, I do not want to discourage you from your dream, and I do wish you good luck with your plans. But heed my advice: you can't just start a career when you want. You have to put in a ton of work first, and then when the results start coming, you can think of this becoming the career. Results first, career after. As a closing note, I suggest not to give up on your dreams though. Your dreams can be your best motivation to work hard on it. Dream big. Work hard for it. And the work will pay off.

Disclaimer: I hope I didn't sound condescending or anything, I wanna clarify that I don't classify myself as a "famous" guy who is telling an aspiring streamer bad things. It is the opposite actually. When I started streaming, I got a ton of helpful advice from more experienced streamers, and now that I have some experience with this, I am trying to share my thoughts in an attempt to help out people who are starting off just now.

Actually I am really curious about how you have such a confidence in order for someone to get money especially your twitch, your gameplay or your youtube channel. As a turkish viewer and a part of turkish community i have seen such a disgusting things from you Alperen. Actually you have never care about the people who wants to improve and support you. You just be with whoever has money and fame. You have no real relationship, connection and emotion to anyone on this community. I have seen that you have had such disrespectful and awful treats to a LGBTQ+ member of the community, I really can’t believe these hatred on these people in spite of living in 2020s. And also always hear from you sexual cursed words which are directly humiliating of women. You always using these in your streams and also yt videos and more on your dc channel. More, you curse also Berat (Turkeycof) and also Glx_Rusher and great players who becomes your opponent in anytime. (Turkeycof as we all know had banned but we i was watching his streams and just thinking he didn’t deserves these kinda words.)
Actually i really don’t understand that you always try to be nice someone idk who is that, you humiliate Dracken, or other 2k+ and even 2k2 players. You don’t deserve anything the reason why your characterless behaviors.
(as a turkish member, i think there is no racism by dracken)

If we focus on the material things, do you think you are really enough to get some money like a charity or by a sponsorship? For instance i know Kasva and he works really really hard for it, like he searches by himself some teams, sponsors and he creates coaching packs or new contents to be professional and live in Turkey!

But i swear i haven’t seen anything like can you help me with 300 dollars in a month from kasva or any professional player.

At least we can’t forger this ofc.

PLEASE BAN ERTUG

The guy named Ertug has to be banned guys. I know that there are some people who lıke hım, some who do not care, but most of the people do not lıke hım. He probably does not matter that much, but ıs a real paın ın the ass here ın Turkey. I assume that most of the people already know some...

As a fellow bro from your country, i think these kind of things dont go forcefully.
Stream in your free times and if you get more wievers then good but if not do it only to enjoy it. 3 years ago i was a LOL player who were seeking to become a pro player, i even got to challenger top 30, but then i realised there are 200 challenger players and all of them want the same thing, you have to put a lot of time and pressure into it and if i want to get in a team i had to quit my university for this.
I have seen people who had the dream of becoming a pro, playing the game 7/24 yet they failed and they lost 2-3 years of their life as a result.

Im really happy i didnt go for this pro thing. I put my time and work into my job and i think im a good dentist now because i could focus on my studies.

Whatever you do, it doesnt matter. If you are good at it, you'll make money. Please re-think your university and job life. Much luck

Oh wow, I didn't even know about this. So the guy is not only naive toxic civ picker, he's actively trying to help Ertug cheat. Or using Ertug's ehm.. 'live coaching' during a match. Wow. And at the same time he's asking community to fund him to make his dreams happen. This just added whole another level of absurdity, I love it. I'm more and more convinced this has to be a troll post. There's just no way.

Yes this absolutely insane... the only more absurd thing would literally be Ertug opening a thread and asking for 1000$ per month or something 11

Who would support proven cheaters like Ertug or Alperen?? I actually feel sorry for the Turkish AOE community (which i am sure has 99.9% amazing people!!) that always the worst from the worst are discussed here (for valid reasons of course)

Lol this Alperen should be banned from tournaments just for letting ertug to play on his account and cheating with help of ertug (also ban to ranked/multiplayer?)

How hard is it to not have any involvement with ertug? Especially if you plan to ask money from community in future

Just curious, who is carbo, nickname?

I guess I didn't get the context at all... When people say Catania, I can only remember Maxi Lopez, Vugrinec (because he played in Turkey), I guess Di Canio and Lucarelli (weren't they opposite personalities politically). I wonder who is carbo?

His nickname is carbo (2100 player), real name is Adrian Calello.

He played in Italy for a couple of years but Dinamo Zagreb is the club he played for the longest in Europe. Also played for a bunch of teams here in Argentina, most notably Independiente. I think he's still playing in our second division but not sure.

Even though your English doesn't seem too bad you keep streaming in Turkish, to me this is saying you don't take it seriously. Why keep yourself in this little corner, unable for anyone outside of it to follow. Every stream from now on when you put a Turkish title and speak Turkish you should see it as a complete waste of time to achieve the broader audience you need to get that income. Even BacT with his amazing english is able to have an international following. If you need 250 dollars per month then this doesn't seem out of reach, a 5 dollar donation and 4 subs per day. Point here is it doesn't need to be one or the other, you should build your streaming income while looking for a sponsor. A bigger audience will help you to achieve the latter.

Better invest your time in your failing caster career instead of lecturing other people with a wall of text.

He was just asking asking for a sponsorship in a respectful way. He was not asking for random people on the internet giving him life advice.

Yeah what a twat, a professional streamer giving advise to someone who wants to stream for a living and is obviously stuck in a dream world. Better insult him, right?

Absolutely pointless insult, what has he done to you? I think Lida made some good points there
