Despite the fact that it has taken quite long to start this magnificent event, considering how long it has been since the last WCL, this time has been most necessary as the rules, settings and other decisions needed to be scrutinised and revised carefully before the tournament's start. But as most of the work is finally done, there is nothing more in the way of opening SIGN-UPS and getting started with the most anticipated AoC event in years.
Thanks to many donors, most notably Mr $5000 Donor the Generous, whose identity is still not to be revealed, the limit of WCL's prize money has not only been reached but exceeded. This has had an almost immediate effect on the community as old experts recently started reappearing. So far, the most surprising and promising team consisting of old experts seems to be Tyrant. The number of their players is low but their legendary nicknames – Grunt, kkab and also _DauT_ – more than make up for it. They have been [READMORELINKDOTS] seen practising in Voobly of late and fans have already swarmed around to gain more information about who else might be involved. Nevertheless, it is not just Tyrant whose records are going to be in great demand, apart from RVK and L_Clan, several Chinese clans such as CSC or FJ are expected to participate.
As for the settings of WCL, the tournament will start with Qualifiation Stage (if needed) and then hurl right into Group Stage which is going to consist of 4 groups, each with 8 teams. 16 spots in Group Stage have been reserved for the invited teams (invited teams will be chosen once the sign-ups are closed) and the other 16 will be fought for in the Qualification Stage. 16 of the best teams from Group Stage will then advance to Final Stage, which will determine 4 semifinalists who will subsequently face each other in the Grand Finals.
Although many things have stayed the same, there will not fail to be some surprises to make this season of World Clan League fresh and unique. Therefore it is of utmost importance that participants read through the rules and settings carefully before signing up their team. Sign-ups are going to remain open until Saturday 16th April with the first round of the tournament starting the following week, by which time the names of legendary players whose return is still uncertain will have been revealed.
