1. Jordan23Hey, I've been given the opportunity to host a German AOE2 Championship! The price pool will be 4 digits and it will be a weekend event in February. The goal is to find the best German player(s). Need some help from you Germans in order to decide exactly how to do it.
My current plan is to do a weekend event with a simple 8 player single elimination bracket. There are quite a few Germans around 1900-2000 rating to my knowledge, so my current plan would be to go off ELO and have the top 6 be guaranteed a spot, while the 7-14th placed players will play a mini qualifier in order to fight for the last two spots.
I know a lot of people would want a larger bracket in order to take part, but since the goal is simply to see the best German players and crown a champion the format will be kept quite simple. Apologies to everyone! The sponsor wants to make it a yearly thing, so maybe with more time and preparation next year can be larger.
So simply put, kinda just need some feedback from the people familiar with the German scene on whether it makes sense to do it the proposed way? Maybe having just 7-10th participate in the qualifier makes sense too? Let me know!
some DM and EW thrown into the sets would be cool to also have the broadness of the skillsets of the players influence the outcome
I love you just a little more now 11Would love to play! German passport here <3 My mother is german so I am, in fact, german!
I think a final weekend TCL style with top4 players would also be nice. Assumed its Nili Jordan Stefan and Running that make the race having all of them facing each other and then a long final series would be really cool since the levels are rather close. Like you could do a 16player-4qual cascading qualifier brackets into a 4 player round robin and a long final day.Hey, I've been given the opportunity to host a German AOE2 Championship!
