There's been some talk in the past how playing on HD feels slower than playing on Voobly. When I tested it, there was no difference in game speeds. However, another player did measure a difference and I soon figured out my problem was that I'd tested both in single player.
The difference comes from the fact that in regular AoC, Multiplayer runs faster than Singleplayer. The normal gamespeed in single player is 1.5 while in multiplayer this is around 1.875. Apparently, this is due to a timing bug. This bug is fixed in UP1.5, however as people are used to the different gamespeed, the speed for MP is adjusted so it still is the same 1.875-ish in MP.
In HD this has been fixed AND changed apparently, with both MP and SP running at 1.5 speed for normal. That's were the speed difference comes from (Animations on HD also play slower, but that's a seperate issue).
Would be interesting to hear your thoughts. Were you aware of this?
Edit: Apologies if I made it seems like changing this was an open discussion. To quote scripter:

Hi! Just to be clear, UP v1.5 will not changing the aoc multiplayer speed provided by ES, which has remained the same for many years since v1.0c (and probably before that). That would be a significant gameplay change and is out of scope. Sorry for the trouble!
