Sorry for the catchy title
Did someone has the viewers numbers for t90 and viper recently ? Did they get their viewers back as they had on Twitch or not even close ?
I think it will be interesting to follow vipers numbers as he switch from aoe4 to aoe2 and perhaps had a new audience.

facebook's UI is so clunky. Who would want to stream there.
It's good for posting but anything else, sticks out like a sore thumb.
Tbh I think what freaks me out the most is, seeing people's actual names. I don't want to meet Jerry. I want to meet BigTittiedVirgin.

I watched Vipers first aoe2 stream after his aoe4 break yesterday. He had between 500-800 viewers.
I think that he would have easily got to 5k with his normal twitch audience.
From juli 20 to juli 21 he had around 3-4k viewers on average.

Also while people are happy to point out FB's problems (which are quite real), one distinct advantage it has over Twitch is the complete lack of ads. I don't think it will remain that way forever since I don't see how it could be profitable otherwise, but that will be one thing that's better from a UX perspective over Twitch for the foreseeable future.

I collect viewer data on (almost) all aoe2 streamers, so it comes from my own database.

It doesn't require FB to watch it, although you can't write comments if you are not logged in

Each bar is 10 minutes, viewership was sampled once during that interval.

FB definitely has ads, and subbing to the streamer doesn't even get rid of them.
Ads are timed and generally force the game into a PiP while they play

Huh interesting, first I've heard of FB gaming ads. I'm subbed to T90, not Viper. I haven't seen ads on either stream although tbf I do watch a lot more T90 than Viper. Maybe the algorithm spares you if it knows you're still putting money in somewhere?

What is the real difference with twitch? On both you can just watch, but you need an account for reacting and stuff like that.

I can't chat or see chat on FB because the chat column only fills about 2/5 the height of my screen. I'm sure there must be a way to minimize the extra fluff, but I don't know how.

Also, the "Live" text overlays the resource bar... sigh.

This pisses me off so much that I usually don't watch for more than 15-20 min even though I love watching Viper. It's such a basic thing to fix but facebook dgaf.

Yea it‘s really annoying but if you are watching in a browser you can just rightclick on the “live“ banner, click on “inspect“ in the drop-down menu and press the delete button and it will disappear (it‘s very likely that you have to repeat the previous steps till every part of the banner is gone).

Note that if you refresh or close and reopen the page it will appear again.

I occasionally watch T90 or theviper on FB, and one thing that seems really annoying to me is the lack of a 'theater mode'. I like to play a game in a separate window on my laptop while I watch a stream. Since facebook doesn't allow the chat to hide, except for fullscreen mode (afaik at least), you are stuck with a tiny viewer if you want to split your screen. It also seems like a fairly basic feature to incorporate in my opinion, since twitch and youtube have had it since forever.
Furthermore the fact that you can't create a pure gaming account, but you have to use an actual regular facebook account to participate in the chat, has prevented me from doing so far. (I know you can create a gamertag, but afaik you still have to start this from an actual facebook account).

It does, it's just hard to find. I believe it is one of the buttons in the bar at the bottom of the video.
