Yes you are right, it is called stream sniping I guess. It is not really cheating, but it can be comparably annoying for those who are affected by this.

@RaiD_ First of all I think it's a pity that you don't write to me personally. To clear things up, I'm currently training Goten, so I've picked Goten many games before. Maya is one of the best civs in the game and unfortunately gets countered by Goten, that can happen.

I looked for our 1st game in your stream because the name seemed familiar to me. I originally wanted to watch our match again, but since that didn't work, I was put back in the queue and we met again (this happens very often on the Elo). I was just lucky with the boar, it's not the first time I've lamed and it won't be the last as long as the developers don't tone it down, I stand by it and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Otherwise, I can only give you the tip if you want to play 100% Tryhard, create a 2nd account to play there without stream, limiting your defeats to streamsniping is a bit too easy. GLHF all

It was indeed rather unfortunate by me to face Indiands once I was forced to pick Franks in the first game, and to face Goths once I was forced to pick Mayans in the second game right after. Not to mention that all this happened while you were watching my streaming at the same time. I'll let people judge about it because to me it is quite clear already.

Basically when you pause against him he don't give a sh** and unpause without waiting a second you literally don't have time to write something and you asked him why he is unpausing he just answered : "I want to play".
He is a really unfair and toxic player and just looking for free elo, I'm not having fun playing against him

I'm pretty sure, anyone that looked at the screen of the guy next to him while playing counterstrike on LANs back in the days was considered a cheater as well.

It depends at which point you consider the game to have truly started, I guess. For a long time, particularly top level players have used each other's streams to try and get games against each other, including tactically banning/favouriting certain maps so that they'd get one they wanted (sometimes for both player's benefit, other times to try and disadvantage one of them). This would mean that if a player has a certain strat they're playing (e.g. like Survivalist sometimes does, including it in his stream title) then their opponent would probably know what to expect. This might be considered stream sniping in some people's books, but not in others.

I personally find it distasteful, and borderline cheating, to knowingly counter-pick the civ you know your opponent has chosen (as in, literally seeing what they have on their screen and forcing a counter pick). There's a fair bit of difference between that and guessing a counter-pick whilst having mutual random open (e.g. like many players do when they know they've got Hoang).

At the end of the day, though, it is one of the risks run by playing as a streamer. It absolutely does not excuse the behaviour, but, especially for players below the very top level, it's not really straightforward to do anything about, and it's probably something which streamers just have to accept to some degree. It's doubtless frustrating, but it should - in theory - only be for a very small proportion of games.

As I said, I'm currently playing a lot of Goten and it had nothing to do with Counterpick, you can also see that at aoenexus. So the few Elo points are not important to me xD
