Euro 2020 Winners?

Been watching international games since like 1992 and as a small kid I chose to root for Italy. Glad to see they're playing properly entertaining matches nowadays. Another fun game yesterday.

Belgium vs Denmark was a properly entertaining game. Fantastic fan atmosphere, back and forth chances. The Eriksen situation providing a touching backstory.

Italy/France/Portugal are quite obvious options. So I expect some 2nd/3rd tier team to win. Maybe mentioned befroe Belgium or Netherlands?

Feeling bad for Hungary, they deserved more, I'd prefer to see at least one big name out of competition from that group, don't care which one.

Minorities are not politics. I'm all in to support LGBT or oppressed nations (ie Palestinians/Kurds/Armenians) or woman rights in football. None of this should be considered politycs, while many politicians are trying to make their support by making minorities their enemies to consolidate their supporters.

So big yes for rainbow on EURO, big yes for red signs on faces during matches of Serie A (there is one round of matches in Italian league to support home abusing - 1/3 of Italian woman still has to face this kind of treatment in their households), etc.

I thought it was a good idea. It's a highly visible foruming used to highlight an important issue. If the people don't like it, they are free to switch the channel.

I think the Netherlands in particular, and to a lesser extent England and Germany, have to fancy their chances of doing well in the lower half of the bracket. Watch Ukraine or the Czech Republic reach the final now though...

For that you have to look at the brackets: Their "group to the final is way easier than the other.

We missed Mesut Ozil so much but thier team is a cohesive team. THey would take it this time.

Guess it depends on country, I am sure Vatican is also against it, Russia also.

Personally, I don't care, even discussing a stadium because it is rainbow coloured is discrimination. If it was another color, nobody will make a fuss, so that's good example for discrimination.

Like Demba Ba told to referee last year, when you mention a white guy you say "this guy", when you mention a black guy, you say "this black guy".

The controversy for the rainbow coloured stadium is not because they just randomly wanted to colour it this way for once, but because they wanted to colour it against Hungary, where the parliament recently passed an anti-LGBTQ+ law.
On one hand, it's justified that some people want to show solidarity with people affected by the law, but we are talking about a sporting competition where sports should be in the focus. There have been (justified) measures in sports against governments in the past (for example sporting boycott of South Africa because of Apartheid), but that should be kept for extreme cases. It should be avoided as much as possible that sports becomes the political playing field of governments (it is very difficult, but should be the maxim we act upon).
Therefore, I agree in this case with UEFA that disallowed to colour the stadium, because that was clearly a sign against the decision of the Hungarian parliament. I don't agree with the act of the Hungarian parliament, but it's not my business to tease their national football team for that.
I always liked that football or sports in general was seen as a place where in times of war or sadness you forget about all of that for 90 minutes and just play the game.


And now to the "racist incident" from the Champions League game. That was such a hypocritcal witch hunt onto the 4th official and everybody just jumped onto the bandwagon to put themselves in good light. What happened is that during the game (after a foul) the 4th official told the referee to send off Basaksehir assistant coach Pierre Webo (who is Cameroonian) because he was protesting too loud. When the referee came closer to the bench and asked which one to send off, the 4th official used the word "negru" which means black in Romanian. Unfortunately, that was an inappropriate usage of words because Webo got triggered of course, shouting why he said "negro", and then the witch hunt started. And I don't understand Demba Ba why it is necessarily racist if I reference someone by his skin colour if in a group of people all but him have a different one.
For those who don't know, it went on that the match was cancelled (and replayed the day after) because the players wanted to show a strong sign against racism, of course everybody posing with their black lives matter posters, and even Erdogan telling that it was very racist, he himself is completely against racism and the 4th official needs to be punished.

Here is a video to what happened in that PSG - Basaksehir game. In the beginning, you can hear the 4th official speaking Romanian with the ref.
