EMPIRES SHOWDOWN ! 3rd edition

Hello everybody!

It is a great pleasure for me to announce the arrival of the 3rd edition of the Empire Showdown!

But, what is the Empire Showdown?

It is the 3rd edition of a tournament I organize. The idea is to gather professional players for 1v1 battles on an original map pool pack, and take the opportunity to turn it to a fund raising for an association!

The first competition was planned with French speaking players only, in favor of an animal shelter led by an association. We managed to collect 1700 €. (it was in 2018 if my memory is good)

I was very happy of this first attempt and wanted to retry this experiment with higher expectations in 2020.

I wanted to work for children, children which haven't got our luck. This is why I contacted the ARAME association.

It is a french association based in Strasbourg which aim is to help children facing disease, leukemia among others.

So last year, with the help of the Viper, hera, Tatoh, Nicov, Mbl, Lirrey, Mister Yo and Daut it is 17 200 € that we managed to collect! An unbelievable amount that, trust me, made a lot of people happy!


This year, ARAME came up to me to offer a new event planning together. I naturally accepted but having in mind greater ambition and ideas.

First of all to touch you even more and make you understand the everyday life of those kids.

So, during this edition we will have several speakers come up to the recording studio to testify.

We will have the nursing staff, a young adolescent girl facing the disease with her mother and also the founder of the association : professor Lutz. The objective is to get several points of view.

I will find an English speaking person to translate all the interviews so that the ones streaming their POV can inform their viewers.

These interviews will occur between each opposition to make the breaks interesting and organized. We also managed to book a 30 to 40 musicians orchestra to play video game musics (among which the age of empires ones!) to make the pauses each time nicer.

So, you might ask yourself who is going to attend this tournament 3rd edition? Here is the list of the attendees with invitation cards I hope will please you :

The tournament settings will be very simple with a direct knockout phase on a BO5 basis!

The map pool has been specifically thinked for this event in which each player will choose their home maps. First game played on Arabia.

The tournament will be played on 2 days. Saturday 3rd of July for all quarter finals on BO5 basis and Sunday 4th fort the semi finals and the final on BO5 basis too.

I also bet that if the 30k donation are reached this year, I'll shave my beard off... Last year, as said earlier, we reached 17 200€. I think I am safe lol.

This and in general AoE 2 of the last year has shown a big heart and how much we as a community are able to do, which to me is more memorable than most tournament finals.

 

This is amazing, bigger and more important than any 30k$ tournament. Hope you can raise a lot of money for these kids!

Were there recorded games of the games played?

 

Hello everyone.

It is with a heart full of emotion that I write these few words.

It's hard to know where to start...

Last year I organised a charity tournament for an association that takes care of children with cancer. I didn't know where it was going to take me...

When we reached 17.200€ of donations last year, I thought it was unhoped for, not to say miraculous and yet ...

More than 33.000€ of donations were collected during this weekend of July 3rd & 4th 2021... It is simply incredible. And even after 2 days I still can't fully realize...

I immediately want to thank the players who were of course the main element of this event. Without them nothing would have been the same...

They are always there to answer whenever they can, and I mean the whole pro scene. We Age of Empires players are very lucky to have such quality pro players like this.

You didn't have to participate and yet you gave of your time to support my project and the association that accompanies it. For this reason, @TheViper, @_MbL_, @Capoch, @PROject_Belgium, @TaToH, @DauT, @Jordan & @Vinchester you have my eternal gratitude.

A special thought to you Viper who had to give up along the way because of your wrist... I read on your face that it affected you and know that it touched us a lot... We wish you a good recovery. Take care of yourself <3

I would also like to thank all my team who accompanied me during this weekend, my co-casters, the staff of the control room, my moderators, partners, friends, family... Without this precious help and the support they gave me, it is very likely that the final result would have been very different.

The people interviewed, Lisa and her Mum, Damien, testimonies that allowed us to see more clearly, to better understand the disease and their daily struggle. It was edifying and I came out of this weekend grown up thanks to them.

The No Limit Orchestra who played absolutely sublime pieces during these 2 days and all this in a totally free way. I really invite you to go and see their work on Youtube because they really deserve it!

Thank you also to all the English-speaking caster who participated in the diffusion of this event and contributed to the visibility of this one. Of course the association is French, but because this disease of **** touches the whole world...

And obviously the viewers of the event. Who gave their all to reach the goal we had set. Well this crazy story cost me my beard xD but I could shave every day if it would help a noble cause like this one every time.

I'm so proud of you, of us, of me...
I feel like I could move any mountain that comes my way.

I feel strong and look forward to continuing to provide content on Age of Empires and Twitch.
