AOE-II Ellie's Charity Invitational

Ellie’s Charity Invitational is a charity event hosted by twitch.tv/ellie4k in aid of Sea Shepherd, a global marine wildlife conservation organisation protecting our oceans. It's not only Ellie's birthday, but her first ever tournament and she is beyond excited to have TheViper, Mbl, Mr. Yo, DauT, JorDan, Slam, Hera, and Liereyy joining her for the 2-day event on February 27th and 28th. Dave will be co-casting the event on Saturday.

A prizepool of $2000 USD will be split 50/50 between Sea Shepherd and the players, with all additional funds raised going to charity. The games will be played vegan, so no taking of fish/hunt/herdables will be allowed. Why? Captain Paul Watson, founder of Sea Shepherd explains:

"My ships are vegan because we are conservationists. There are simply not enough fish in the sea to continue to feed the ever expanding populations of humanity. By 2030 every single commercial fishery on the planet will have been destroyed. We have already seen the destruction of the Northern cod, the bluefin tuna, the orange roughy, the Patagonia toothfish and so many more species. There is a major biological holocaust being waged against life in the oceans. More than 50% of the fish taken from the sea is converted into animal feed making pigs and cows the largest aquatic predators on the planet. Domestic chickens eat more fish than all the world's puffins. Domestic cats eat more tuna than all the world's seals together. We catch 50-70 fish from the sea to raise one farm raised salmon. We are vegans because it is an ecological crime to eat fish; we are vegans because we are marine conservationists."

It will be interesting to see how it affects the game strategies. I suppose nobody has actually practiced that yet. I'm already waiting next weekend to see how the world's best players tackle this challenge

I would add Celts, Malians, Japanese (better wood economy), Aztecs (farming), Mayans (longer lasting Berries, FC plays will be strong), Lithuanians, Persians (extra resources), and Burgundians (dark age eco upgrades) to the list of civs that have something to show for. While the Chinese team bonus sounds great I am afraid their lack of resources puts them way to far behind.

Why not, pick villwar civs like lith / berber / persian / goth and just go villwar / wall in their berries. :D

Yeah true, but if you go full vill war / douche, is it still just laming their berries? 11 excited for sure to see how this will impact the strategies and how players will pressure the berries. Also will be interesting to see the scouting - there should be sheep all over the place

Douching the enemy for any reason seems like it'd be an unacceptable strain on your wood economy, and without most of the "free" food available, your food eco as well.
