Thank you to all who submitted maps in ECL Map Design Contest, we are astounded at the amount of effort put in by so many users, many of whom are new to map scripting! We hope this competition has been fun and interesting to participate in and look forward to seeing new maps for future tournaments!
The first place map, submitted by AlgernonR, is Riverbed. This map features a river of Mangrove Shallows running between two hills of higher elevation. Fish are abundant in the river during the early game, but players must eventually make their way onto the hills for more resources.
In second place, also by AlgernonR, is Eastern Coastline. For 1v1s this map features a two Town Center start with one Town Center on a mainland and the other on an island out to sea. Players will need to use different build orders at each Town Center as they decide whether they want to concentrate on controlling the land or on ruling the sea.
Further, this map is singularly interesting for 2v2s if players are given the ability to choose which civ and player is on the mainland and which is on the water.
But we felt this civ positioning was a bit too random for our TG, which brings us to our third map.
The HD Edition introduced the special map Enemy Archipelago, which features four islands with four simultaneous 1v1s. HenkDeSuperNerd created a more flexible version of this map that works for all player numbers, not just 4v4s. We're using this map in the 3v3s.
Finally, apologies for this post's being so late.
It should have been made months ago when the winning maps were added to the map pack.
