Doubles Age | 2v2 Tournament Announcement

　
I'm glad to announce this "Doubles Age", an open, multi-map 2v2 Tournament!
Featuring 8 best teams in the world -- 4 from World Cup, and 4 form by different country players.
This Tournament will be held on Apr15 ~ May26/Jun02, with some good maps in World Cup and ECL 2v2s.
In addition, this tournament has three level leagues, so all teams can compete with closer skill opponents, to improve, and have fun.

In the September of 2014, we had "Saiyanhood Legends United", the last open multi-map big 2v2 tournamnt.
53 months past, we had some single map 2v2s, we had RotK that played on HD, we had some ECLs that had restriction on players, we had World Cup that only same country players could form a team. And finally we get here -- Doubles Age.

I have to give a special credit to PTT (Taiwan Community). As a admin of there, I post this idea and started to fund. After a month we got $2430 -- almost 5 times to the number I thought we would get.

Thanks for organising. Yes, a different 2v2 tournament is needed and for streamers and viewers, 2v2 is in my opinion one of the most exciting formats, as it never happens that 1 team is clearly better and often there are more than 4 teams with very similar strength. Also, you can focus on all players like in a 1v1 and still have the cooperation aspect of a team game.

I like the prize pool distribution for 1st and 2nd place being a factor of the score in the final.

It means something is on the line in every game of the final and all games in the set will be played.

Yeah this idea comes from "c'mon they are top 2 teams, best of the best, let's see their performance on more variety maps!"
But BO9+ is just too long, so setting play all 7 games seems very good

I think it's a very exciting tournament and I hope it will produce some great games, thanks a lot for organizing it.

One thought though, with how prevalent sling has been in ECL, even in the 2v2 stages, I could have hoped for a sling nerf a bit more severe than ECL. That's just my opinion, but I know others including top players are not so fan of sling games.

But regardless I'm confident that the tournament will be a success.
