DM World Cup 4: Announcement

It is my honor to present to the Age of Empires II community the fourth installment of the famed Deathmatch World Cup tournament series. This time boasting a 10,000$ prize pool donated completely from the DM community, we are excited to provide thrilling content of our niche, fast-paced style of Age of Empires 2 and crown this year's king of DM.

We witnessed TheViper take the DM crown in 2019's DM World Cup 2, and managed to maintain his reign by winning DM World Cup 3 in 2020. Can TheViper continue his dominance in DM for a third straight time? Will an old school DM player such as Jidba or Daywalker bring back the trophy to DM? Can TheCode finally break through and take the crown? Or will we see a new player rise up and surprise us all? We can't wait to find out!

Format Summary:
The top 16 seeded players at the conclusion of sign-ups will be auto-qualified into the main event. The following 32 highest seeded players will have the opportunity to compete within the 8 GSL-formatted groups, where the top 2 players from each group will advance to the main event. The main event will then be a 32 player double-elimination bracket.

Games happen in quick succession. Nili lost to Viper in winner's bracket, then almost immediately had to play Code in the LB. Same with Tatoh and possibly others

I think he meant why did he move to TheCodes bracket and not into the top LB were Rubenstock/FreakinChris are.

It is indeed an unfortunate draw, but that happens when several top seeded players fall into the LB early.

It is displayed a bit different on Liquipedia then it used to be showed on Challonge, but the top two brackets are both part of the Winner Bracket, while the one below is the Lower Bracket. So it actually makes a lot of sense that Nili would play against Interdimension/TheCode, as they couldn't have faced off before

Yeah, I meant why he ended up with TheCode part instead of Rubenstock, according to Liquipedia as you said, he should face Ruben.

 

Really felt for nili in that last Byz war. bloody houses.

I checked around 14 GMT and someone told me Viper vs Nili later today. A couple hours later, Nili was playing TheCode.

Yes, at least 2. It was the same for Tatoh, he immediately played FFavorite after losing a 1h long game in game 7 against Bruh.
To be really honest, I think this should not be the case, especially since there is no preparation time between the sets for strategies, scouting your opponent etc. But I guess there is a reason it was organized the way it was, maybe the organizers did want to jam as much action as possible into one day, or maybe there were other scheduling constraints. Anyways, tough luck for Nili in this case, he looked amazing vs Jidba and was clearly devastated.

He also looked good against The Code, but that doesn't win you anything. Next weekend will be fun as we know anything can happen. How many games can Rage take from the Viper with 1 week prepration or can he even win?

I actually really enjoy those events with lots of games happening as long as there are multiple casters covering the event. It has been my favourite part about Red Bull qualifier weekends.

Yeah, I mean we dont talk about qualifiers but main event happenings. It just impossible to follow it if you have more than one player you are interested in. In RBW the finals of the qualifiers are all back-to-back so people can follow it...
