a maybe crazy idea and I have no clue how difficult it would be to implement something like this:
Now building palisades or whatever goes linearly, that is, the builder is building the exact same speed during the whole process of building. How about making the building speed a quadratic function? Or something along this line.
This way the building speed would be slower in the beginning and faster towards the end. If adjusted rightly, this would make quickwalling with whatever building easier to break.
