I think, more than anything else, the simple fact that people who have done absolute jack sh*t for the game or the community DARE to talk to robo the way they do says a lot about the terrible state of this forum.
robo has put many thousands of hours into keeping that game you claim to love alive for many years. This should be an example to follow - instead of finger pointing and criticizing everyone for failures in the game, think about what you can do to elevate it first.
Wedon’tdothathere.jpgGuys please discuss civs, not people. Thanks.

I wonder if red units coming out of the pier suggest that new unique ship can also transport things.
A little help here ^^ The game can even run smooth and in 4k on a 5 years older graphics card than yours. THe game needs basically NO GPU power and i do run it myself on a R270 2GB GPU .... just drains your CPU and still kinda clogs your system memory a bit. So my guess is you have a ****/old CPU and those are quite ez to upgrade even with chip shortage. More or less normal prices ^^why do I have a new and a older amd graphic card here without able to play AoE with it? Using a RX470 to play the game smooth right now. Yeah now problem at all. Melee pathing made from devil himself. No Problem at alllllllllll
Little r for the Big AoeZone AuthorityJust so everyone knows: he's robo not Robo. His name uses a little r.
Note that number of cores / threads doesnt really matter, just grab the one with the highest clockrate for aoe2s sake.A little help here ^^ The game can even run smooth and in 4k on a 5 years older graphics card than yours. Performance at launch was terible and should have never be released imo, but at this point its reasonable and every bit more we get is just a bonus on top.
PS: Did think about adding something regarding Spring too. But the bs that is sporadically flowing out of whatever substitute for a brain his skulls does house, is getting less funny and just boring at this point.
The quality of drama is kinda on a down road imo
Someone having done things for the game or community doesn't entitle them to insult or make false accusations about other users.I think, more than anything else, the simple fact that people who have done absolute jack sh*t for the game or the community DARE to talk to robo the way they do says a lot about the terrible state of this forum.

On top of that I would like to mention @Chrazini who is a much better tournament organiser than robo. This is what happens when you are defending your friends rather than thinking with the mindset clear.
Robo has helped organizing events, anyone could have done that in the past if he wasn't even around, things just don't stop if the admin or moderator isn't available, what he has done for the game and community isn't something that can be put above others contribution's to the game.
Spring created a community around his stream and one of those guys who sympathized with him was mattsalsa, matt probably would have never been around aoe2 if it wasn't cause of spring, basically all that matt did was cause spring was also helping the community by creating content, in that extend spring has done much more than a guy arranging the matches or schedule topics, so that "absolute jack ****" helped a lot to the game and the small community we have.
I am not saying that what robo did in the past wasn't big or important, but certainly you can't fully ignore what others have done for the game cause you don't like'em.
Nor does it give others entitlement to do such things towards said personSomeone having done things for the game or community doesn't entitle them to insult or make false accusations about other users.
I didn't know that, thanks for sharing. Well, considering Matt was one of the biggest contributors before MS and others showed up with huge prize money (I think we had 5-6 rich guys kept the ship alive), Spring actually helped a lot to keep game alive. We can even reach conclusion that robo got paid because of him for many events.Spring created a community around his stream and one of those guys who sympathized with him was mattsalsa, matt probably would have never been around aoe2 if it wasn't cause of spring, basically all that matt did was cause spring was also helping the community by creating content, in that extend spring has done much more than a guy arranging the matches or schedule topics, so that "absolute jack ****" helped a lot to the game and the small community we have.
I agree with this point, I think it is campaigns what makes people buy the game more than new Civs, if I were developers, I would create new campaigns instead of launching new civs. Of course a new civ, comes with campaigns also, but I think there is enough content/wars to cover many years with existing civs.On topic --
I am overwhelmed with the civs. Didn't buy the last DLC, probably won't this one either. Just seems like we are approaching a point where one can't reasonably expect to understand all of the nuance of all civs in play and a growing gap between those who will purchase the DLC's and those who do not - at least from a competitive aspect.
With the current arabia meta of games being decided in early feudal in most instances with yolo rushes carrying the day or setting one hopelessly behind, I fear we're losing a bit of that "replay-ability," aspect of civilizations getting to utilize their unique features later in games. Just hard to consider this the same game we grew up with when we're approaching how many new DLC civs? Especially when civs like Bohemians are virtually broken as is. Just getting tiring having to deal with the over-tuned civs.
well viper definitely doesn't represent typical aoe2 player. Most players still don't even play multiplayer. What else devs can provide to core playerbase if not DLCs? Patches rarely add any meaningful content. Typical AoeZone user's wishes for game is useless for them. The devs are so disconnected from reality, from the playerbase. All those promises at the launch of DE that they will listen to the community were just empty words, and there are still people that want more DLCs. Even Viper said he doesnt want more DLCs, and that was before Dawn of the Dukes. This clip holds true to this very day, after 1 year.
It's hilarious, and more hilarious are people who defend this.
if most people dont play multiplayer why not just focus harder on single player ? Doubt people would have anything against more civs in single player or more campaings.well viper definitely doesn't represent typical aoe2 player. Most players still don't even play multiplayer. that is exactly what they are doing. civs are part of thatif most people dont play multiplayer why not just focus harder on single player ? Doubt people would have anything against more civs in single player or more campaings.
Dude... I'm not the biggest fan of releasing new civs while some bugs still happen. But this comment was totally uncalled for. I read the whole discussion and I didn't see at any time the need to be this agressive or insulting. It escalated in a bad manner and don't think it added anything helpful, in my opinion. This is what happens when people with inflated ego's like you get put into a position of control. You get off on ****ing people over that have better ideas or skills than you and you hide behind your masters position shilling like a coward because your authority only remains aslong as your boss's ability to make money off the large pool of ignorant people that don't know any better. you are weak af
This team has been able to fix problems, we have seen them fix some and then go back and **** up the exact same problem again. You guys killed the game meta + ladder so bad that even pro's who get paid alot of money to play AOE2 have and are leaving the game/ladder. This thing was kept alive for 20 years without MS by the talent of the players and community around it, now its being harvested for everything its worth and anyone who stands in the way to keep the integrity of the game or ladder gets attacked out of the community. beyond pathetic
You're speaking about that asinine post from Spring, right ?Someone having done things for the game or community doesn't entitle them to insult or make false accusations about other users.
Well, Viper liked Dawn of the Dukes so there's that.

You know what else helps sustain continuous patches longer? Not spending obscene amounts of money in aoe4 tournamentsI understand people want fixes ahead of DLCs but fixes do come, balance patches too. The DLCs help to sustain this for longer. I feel there is a limit to how many new civs we want/need but I want this game to continue to be supported and improved so I accept DLCs for that purpose.
