Can someone give an explanation on what the abomination is happening in this clip?

Don't know but you can probably bypass it with pressing "stop" hotkey and then clicking attack again. It's some regrouping issue I would guess, so you maybe can also avoid it by attacking with each separated group separately.

I have also noticed this issue, not only with militia, but also with scouts. I tell them to attack enemy scouts but only one guy attacks and others return to base.

When soldiers don't listen to orders, the issue is generally weak leader.

i was watching few minutes of capoch stream and he had the same issue with fire ships. He sent one back in order to repair it and it suddendly moved forward, in the opposite direction bringing itself to death

At 8:50 ther's 2 flags here (below) that look like a shift click.) Not sure what that is but the militia where going there after that click. Maybe you shift clicked both militias were passing there (the distance of the flags makes it seem like that) and the units understood something about going to that point. One thing I always do is spam pressing the Stop hotkey before I do most moves with my military. Not sure if that's the case here and they are for sure acting weird, but it is something to keep in mind.

I have a guess. You see the two flags which appear when you click on militias to attack his? My guess is those flags were actually not yours, but his move commands which he issued a few seconds earlier. I don't know how exactly the pathfinding works (especially with the new update in which they apparently "fixed" the shift clicking for attacking units) - but it might have something to do with your unit "remembering" the tile in which enemy's unit was when you shift click, and the game keeps track of the tile the enemy moves to so your unit will either shoot at that tile (in case of a ranged unit) or move to that tile and hit (in case of melee unit - this case).
but from what I can see, you did not issue any shift commands. Which makes me think it's a bug in the code. Somewhere something went wrong, and your units thought they had to go to those 2 flagged locations, which got generated due to the bug. Could be from some code error - enemy units were moving to those tiles and your units got issued a pathfinding command where those tiles were what they found the enemy units to be (wrong tiles since the bug).


The bigger question I have is, why did only 3 of the militias got bugged and that 1 kept following the correct pathfinding 11

This has been happening since the patch before this one where melee pathing is busted . i have had this with my scouts and M@a so many times already , so frustrating not being able to finish my kills cause the units decided to move weirdly for no reason -.-

This is happening for few weeks already as others mentioned. It has nothing with shiftclick orders since I do not use them. Usually, if you chasing enemy group and then click directly on of their units to attack them, your army just run opposite direction.

Maybe I should go back to Arena, at least my monks listen to me.

I saw the flags too, but I am 100% certain I did not shift click my units here. Seems to be a bug with units remembering the wrong spot on the map for the enemy units.
And apparently it's been happening a lot, I just haven't encountered it yet.

Let's just hope this does not occur in a tournament final.

dude iv had this alot aswell. I think there is something that happens when you switch army groups and are clicking one while letting the others chase. Its almost like they regroup to the last point they all were told to target a unit. so for example. you had 3 milita on a target say space 1. during your travel to space 10 you grabbed your scout and let your militia free chase. then when you reclick the milita to attack they walk back to tile 1 to regroup and then chase. its suuuuper weird. not really sure exactly how this works but its def common issue now
