I ended up making this guide to try and flesh out general guidelines for defending tower rushes!
To be honest, where I see my guide lacking -
1. I don't include any type of 1 range archer defense. I'd say that this might even be the best type of defense against such a rush, but I felt like if you know how to 1 range archery range defense against a trush, you probably don't watch "how to" AoE videos since the eco balancing is pretty delicate.
2. Ignoring the rush and consistently walling to go for FC. Doing this is legitimate, especially if the trush starts out badly, but I didn't want to encourage this for anyone looking to learn how to defend/didn't know how to show this as a strat. FCing requires you to be spread all over your base, making you extra vulnerable to trushes if you don't know what to do. Almost always you'll have to do some awkward market abuse eco balancing and thats a whole topic in and of itself.
3. Scout defense... kinda. Not a huge fan of this since it is tough if you're not a micro star.
Would love feedback / any improvements I could include from a strategy standpoint and an editing standpoint!
