Cheating
Cheating is not allowed under any circumstances. Players using any kind of cheat will be disqualified from any future Nili-Events.

Respect & Fairplay
Every player must respect their opponent. Bad behavior will result in a warning and may lead to an immediate disqualification of the player. This tournament values not only great skills, but also sportsmanship and fairness. Any insult, non-PC behavior or flaming will not be tolerated. Laming and mind games in game are allowed.

That money will go into the Silver League or in an open streaming DM-TG showmatch.

  • Spectator Delay in Voobly will be set to 3:00 minutes.
Update 06th of September:
- Round Settings are changed from one to two HMs per player in Bo7s and set Map+Civ-Matchups are added to create a more typical DM tournament.

Update 09th of September:
- Because of the massive interest of top players, we decided to squeeze in a qualification stage for the top 32. Winners will advance into the Gold League (on a tigher schedule now). Losers will join seed 33+ in the Silver League.
- Landbridge & Acropolis removed from the mappool.
- Maps are not denying the building of BBTs, stonewalls or stonegates - it is still forbidden though.

Update 10th of September:
- New Mappack uploaded(BBTs, Walls, Gates, Nomad Tech disabled; shore fish on Sand Maze removed)

Update 11th of Semptemer:
-
New Mappack (fix on DMWC2_MapPack to not spawn empty)

In a tournament where you will lose out on prize money for being 5 minutes too late, I don't think you'll get into the tournament being 15 hours too late D:

Sucks MaJoR_Kd could not participate. I remember during some of the lowest DM activities period back in aoc days MaJoR_Kd was the only streamer regularly streaming high level DM games with commentary to ~5 viewers.

Hi Nili I'm also not in the brackets, is there a reason for this?

I didn't sign up or show any interest, and I didn't even read the rules to be honest, but that's not my fault and you should have known that!!!!

Daut got AL for not being able to play at the scheduled time.
MbL got AL for streaming without stream delay. He later told me that he won‘t play Silver League.

All of a sudden Tempo is looking like a much better choice to play instead of being arbitrarily sidelined

The rules are very vague on streaming without a delay as in no punishment is mentioned at all. There are three levels of punishment mentioned in the rules, warning, prize reduction and then AL. Why was AL selected for this?

Perhaps because it was a deliberate, open breach of the rules, where MBL even mentioned that he "doesn't care if he gets disqualified", which on top of everything is sort of disrespectful?

I'd be interested in hearing Nili's original reasoning too though

I will wait for a reply but I hope the word disrespect isn't used when making a tournament admin decision given the way it was handled.

It's a violation that opens up the possibility of cheating. Now I don't believe that was the case here, but it seems like a reasonable punishment.

Yep, much to my disappointment, because I really like Mbl, I heard him say today in his stream something along the lines "I knew I wasn't allowed to stream without delay, but I didn't think I would get AL just because of that".

Man MB you are such a good player, but then you make this kind of dumb unnecessary stuff (like even saying it live on the stream) :frown:
100% right decision from nili, but sad that MB is out like this. All i can say is: dont mess with the hippo!

It would also make sence to put a rule like "no streamchat during a set" imo.

In his PoV he literally said "Yeah I know but I'm disrespecting the rules." Can't really make any other decision in this scenario.

If you disagree with the rules and settings of a tournament, don't sign up...

I was watching the stream of MBL during the matches. Even his chat reminded him multiple times but he has ignored. Too bad that he did not cooperate at that moment, a lighter punishment might be possible, I really like watching MBL play, both RM and DM, so kinda feel a little bit bummed.

The rules are very vague on streaming without a delay as in no punishment is mentioned at all. There are three levels of punishment mentioned in the rules, warning, prize reduction and then AL. Why was AL selected for this?

It’s up to the admin to make the call, and just like many other times where admin decisions have been questioned, there has to be some level of discretion.
I agree with Carlini that there were three punishments in place: warning, prize reduction and then AL. Going straight to AL is fine, with discretion. Does mbl deserve admin loss? Is that the best outcome for the tournament? What about a 50% prize reduction for instance?

I don’t claim to have the answer here, and I support whatever decision Nili makes. However, it’s worth to discuss this sort of issue. If I’m not mistaken, streaming without a delay is mainly to prevent cheating, which in Mbl’s position actually opens him up to be stream cheated against.
Or is this rather that MbL would have been a few seconds ahead of the spectators and therefore would benefit from a few extra viewers (I doubt this is the case).

It's a bummer for sure, but I'd like to assume best intentions on both sides. On the player side, thinking that it's all in good fun and that he'd stop if he gets a warning/non-disqualifying punishment before being kicked out. On the organizer side, thinking it's best to be strict to avoid problems with rules enforcement. I can also see how a $2000 tournament can be a major event to one person and a fun weekend event to another.

A punishment was definitely warranted, and it's Nili's tournament to run, so he does have the discretion to do as he feels best. I think it merited more than a warning, as the player clearly knew he was breaking the rules. However, if there are multiple levels of punishment, I can see how it might lead to the expectation that a first offense results in the lighter punishments (like prize reduction) rather than the heaviest (admin loss).

Running a tournament is a complicated business...

Ofc he won't play silver league, would anyone do that after winning Qualification and being really gold league materal? Even offering it is quite laughable imo.
I think AL is quite a hard decision and not in the best interest of the tourney at all and much more options could be considered before giving AL's.

On a general note - I really doubt it was the case here, however in principle you can also gain an advantage through pov stream + live chat. If the player makes a oversight/mistake in theory this can be spottet and called out by the chat. Exampels would be e.g. something happening at the edge of the screen (raid, idels etc.), forgetting things (RM example forgetting bodkin) or holes (again mostly RM, though there are probably a couple DM examples like this, too). And then again if you don't read chat during the games there is not much reason for not putting stream delay (except for between the games). Again, this is for RM, but I can recall some instances of pro players benefiting from Information given by the chat in rated games.
This certainly is rare but happens.
And even when this would happen without malicous intent - what should be done if a player by chance picks up some useful information from the chat? What if Player A streams without delay, player B with and someone watching A's stream goes to B's chat and the player "accidantally" cheats?

Additionally I think synchronising the streams is also a point of the delay - why should the casters have a stream delay if one/both players stream without? I feel it should either be no delay at all or similar delay for both.
