I don't see the price as a big issue, as long as the game provides enough hours of entertainment.
The really annoying part is how it became totally normal to just release clearly unfinished games and then slowly fix/finish them over time.
I wouldn't have liked AOE4 all that much either way because of the art style and camera angle, but it's funny how they just threw it out with so many QoL features missing, shitty balance and numerous bugs. Bound to fail as a competitive game that way, no matter how much money goes into tournaments.
