this finally explains, why aoe4 is so bad. it was directly planned as mobile game for the chinese market.

i do not want to clap myself too much on the back but:

Honestly, as much as I hate miHoYo ripping off BOTW, Genshin Impact is a solid mobile game, while this **** is those typical garbage Chinese (Western as well) mobile games.

AoE4 March 2022 steam-linked average concurrent player count: 6,354
-1,940 players since February 1
AoE2 March 2022 steam-linked average concurrent player count: 13,277
-1,445 players since February 1

Seems to be a broad decline across the franchise in February, with a larger decline for AoE4.

Add ~30% for AoE4 players that are on Xbox gamepass and not linked to steam

Twitch viewership:
AoE4: 1.7k average concurrent viewers on twitch
AoE2: 1.9k average concurrent viewers on twitch

AoE2 seems to be holding fairly steady around 2k viewers, and AoE4 likely got a bump from NC4 and Golden League.

Thought I would chime in that there was no aoe2 vrs aoe4, and there is no debate about it, unless you are mentally crippled. They are different games entirely, but aoe2(1999) was all around 'better' than aoe4(2022), a game that was a brand name stolen and given to bad developers for quick cash. That is why aoe2 had more players on it even with new game hype.

I felt this post shows a lot on why aoe4 died and also predicted problems early, even though they later censored a lot of it after posts showed the people defending the game were really stupid and any long list of reasons they tried were usually showing they didn't understand something (probably looked bad for PR and on their official forums, early, and all that so they removed like half of it).

They cleaned it up to make it look more as if there was 2-sides (not just 1-sided) but actually had just removed half of posts. If they had to censor then it's already a scam.

to this day aoe4 is like a game struggling with 400 players active in a day and some experimental old aoe2 with the same systems being used as in 1999 for ai, mods, etc has like 2000 or more (doesnt matter if you like or not, it's just been the facts)

That is what happened only like 2nd week after aoe4. Everything said came true, and the predictions also came true. Same things said in agreement with top rts players who saw the game. They already knew about the siege blobs and problems that slower people started talking about like 2 to 4 months after and likely will keep talking about as if it's not been on repeat.

I wouldn't play aoe2 anymore anyway, but the fact is aoe4 didn't even have a map editor. it just shows why aoe2 which re-releaesd from the 1999s and basically sold as 'free mods' like visual, audio, new civs, all using mod features, basically got re-released and even old versions had more players after only 2 weeks from the hyped 2022 new game. They milked the cash cow and people were tricked about it, as if it's not made by devs who previously failed to make their own rts game and were given the legal name age of empires4 by microsoft. Any player who disagrees is waiting for like a 'new map' and a 'small patch' after few months on aoe4 but yet 'what you see is what you got' and it's not going to change much.

Let me finish by saying their game design was the biggest problem, if you can't make a mistake and have to make a 'certain' unit blob or army composition, and can never make comebacks, and even just like 2 weeks into the game it's all figured out, then the game is not designed anything like the old ones were. I too would rather play aom again than micro every siege hit on aoe4.

honestly imagine sitting there 'grasping at straws' (the concept of looking for 'anything' and 'everything' to avoid seeing the truth and the facts) and making up playercounts like 'wait aoe4 jumped up 1000 players today so now it wins' as if there's some ongoing competition that wasn't already lost by aoe4 a long time ago.

This is because the rolling 30 day average is currently dropping a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and averaging in a Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

I do think that the playerbase attrition is starting to taper off (losses are asymptotic to zero after all), but we will likely still see monthly attrition in the ~1k player range for April

It was also average for first days of month, twitchtracker starts keeping it at the beginning of month, so right now you see 700 for April. During N4C time average for month of march was around 2.5K then it drop down steadily.

On the bright side aoe4 peak numbers of players per day have been increasing since the golden league i mean not a drastic boost but it has been going up, meaning that the game needs +100k usd every month to prevent the inevitable, but the lows are still in the 4k players just competing with company of heroes 2 another relic success.

Peaks and valleys don't really matter as much as total players and average concurrent. It's mostly about number of game hours played

I think a big reason some people don't like nili isn't even due to the aoe2 "betrayal," but rather the fact that he is openly corrupt for everyone to see. That being said, most don't really care, that's why people keep watching viper even after his attempted scamming, capoch after his racism, etc.

As far as anyone can tell, the coin had suddenly started advertising so their owners could offload their stock onto new investors at a higher price, since it had no kind of value otherwise. There was a bit of controversy here and on Reddit, and Viper dropped the partnership pretty rapidly, so it's not clear whether he was actually in on an attempted scam or just that he hadn't looked into it carefully enough and/or wasn't familiar enough with cryptocurrency to have spotted some red flags involved.

For the record, the way he's conducted himself otherwise in this community makes me think he probably wasn't trying to scam his viewers, but obviously I don't know the guy and can't be sure.

Viper put his community in danger, there's no way around that. It was a big mistake on his part.

Everybody knows coin market is volatile, those zig zags can make you rich but also can make you lose your capital. If you are investing in coins, I would found it silly to blame someone else when you lose your capital, that's the risk you bear for a higher gain, similar to investing in Russia.

It was not Bitcoin or Ethereum. He promoted an obvious crypto pump and dump scam. Those are two different pairs of shoes.

I think the criticism would be prioritizing money available from sponsorship opportunities over the health of his community. There are different reasons for making this mistake that reflect poorly on him to differing degrees so I am not sure exactly what level is fair.

He's at fault, you can blame him as much or as little as you want, depending on your perspective. All I'm saying is he didn't try to scam his community, which was the allegation made in this post.

Intention makes a massive difference. It's not the same hitting the neighbour's dog with my car because I wasn't paying enough attention versus intentionally feeding it poisoned food. Even if both cases end up with the dog dead. Which luckily didn't happen in this instance because Viper avoided it.

Well if you are talking about intention making a huge difference, wouldn't it be better to keep example about hitting dog with a car intentionally and not intentionally instead introducing the poisoning?

Would it be that different to poison the dog or to run it over with the car? Both seem equally bad. What's your point?
I said poison because it's the most common way of killing dogs. At least where I live, although I'd expect this to be a frequent cause everywhere else. Killing it with spikes inside meat is also very common.

Well my point is, that if you talking about intention it makes more sense to make same example. Like driving over dog intentionally and not intentionally, both times is same outcome, but people would judge them differently.
