The exodus is quickly taking place. Jordan just confirmed in his stream that none of the GL players will be competing in AOE4 anymore, given the current state of the game. GL forfitted the 3v3 TG tournament as well.

So only Hera seems to be the one doubling down on AOE4

No tears for AoE4 deflating, too much marketing effort put on it to end up releasing a game that feels rather unfinished. It is way easier for the public to lose faith in you than it is to build trust. You reap what you sow, or as is the Greek saying, he who sows winds will be reaping hurricanes.

Does aoe2 really need to suffer for this bug fest or will MS start putting the tournament sponsorship to it's rightful place? Will our esteemed tournament coordinator get his head out of aoe4 and recognize other things?

Ranked DMs are on the way so maybe. But, leaving his legacy in AoE4 and shifting back to AoE2 will be tough. After all he is a top 400 player in AoE4.

I don't know why you guys were worried. As I said here earlier, AoE4 was always bound to fail (compared to AoE2). Didn't even need to look at the numbers. Just looking at the gameplay was enough to know that.

Anybody who migrated to AoE4 will return sooner or later. Players, Sponsors. It was just a matter of time. Within a few months, this whole discussion about AoE2 vs AoE4 will be moot (that time is soon approaching).

It is understandable that some players wanted to try out a new game. Nothing wrong with that. Since the games are so different, I would compare it to players trying out Fortnite when that came. But if some players/streamers thought AoE4 will replace AoE2, that was just a bad judgement call.

Anybody who doesn't see it yet will see it in a few months.
So relax, gl hf and do a 5 TC boom as usual.

There has been 1 Microsoft sponsored 1vs1 S tier tournament for aoe4 and 2 for aoe2 (since release of aoe4). WWC starts today so idk what you are talking about.

I guess you mean it as a joke, looking back at "Rage Forest" Tournament I would heavily daut it.

Btw. one of the greatest A-Tier-Tournaments, sadly the pick-system for players only works if evryone can speak english properly, otherwise you "exclude" a lot of people.

Yeah I'm quite surprised how little MS has invested into the AoE4 tournaments so far.
They didn't sponsor Genesis and I'm not sure how the breakdown of the Steelseries and the Winter Championship works, but they're not the only sponsor for those $20k tournaments. The only tournament that's only sponsored by them is the AoE4 Pro League for $20k.

Compare that with KotD4, where they sponsored $50k and WWC, where they sponsored $25k, they still put more money into AoE2 than AoE4.

I caught a bit of this stream to hear some the Lord's wisdom. And he himself said that Aoe4 is in such a horrible state (regarding balance etc) that he doesn't think it deserves the tournament sponsorship it currently gets

Viper also the other day respond a Tweet that was a quiestion for him, of what he thinks about Age4, and he respondos, literally, MEH. Its dead

When AOE4 roadmap was announced and everyone was so excited about it, I questioned myself because for me the devs were like "we will fix the game after 0.5-1 year" so why that much excitement?
Turned out that it's just hopes and wishes for the game to be good which is opposite to reality.

So much this.
I felt like the only sane man in the crazy world when i saw all the people creaming themselves over the roadmap. All it did was say "**** you fans, we won't fix anything in near future, we might consider doing something next year" but people were thankful for some reason???

I guess all the Microsoft-sponsored AoE2-Tournaments were meant to promote AoE4. There was no genuine interest in E-Sports. MS simply planned to increase the popularity of the franchise before releasing their next game. Now they are victims of their own success as people still prefer the >20 year old prepredecessor. For that reason, the time of big Microsoft-money is probably over now. Maybe they will step in for AoE4, if the games unexpectedly increases in popularity again. But they won't care a lot about AoE2 ever again.
