Current Situation on Aoe4 and Aoe2

1.-Aoe4 got released and most pro players and big streamers focused their attention to that game and recommended it, despite aoe4 can't defend itself given the poor quality of the product, aoe2 content got severely hurt by losing both the pro players and the content creators, there was tension and there is still.

2.-Viper left twitch for FB gaming and keeps playing aoe4 and eventually aoe2 on his channel, T90 also left twitch for FB gaming but he keeps doing aoe2 stuff, losing those 2 was the biggest impact on twitch numbers, hera went full aoe4 so the twitch numbers of aoe2 are comparable to 2014-2015.

This is a weird summary since you make it sound like AoE2 is basically dead, while we just recently had KOTD4 with 75k Prizepool (sponsored by MS and others) with finals having over 30k overall live-viewer-peak (over 20k on membs channel alone), an already announced 25k Prizepool Nomad Tournament sponsored by Microsoft, a 2k Showmatch GL vs WWP this week on nomad which had great viewer numbers and judging by previously posted Graphs AoE2-Player-Numbers aren't rly affected by AoE4 at all.

@Skittle As I said, Games like aoe4 live from ppl like you who don't care about money at all when buying them.
Imo there's a big difference between the 15/20€ for AoE2 DE and the 60€ for AoE4, because for 60€ you have higher expectations in terms of quality, also it's not a price where you invite friends to buy the game just for playing against each other from time to time.
Of course a game can cost 60€, but then it has to be rly good because it's definitely not cheap.

You cant judge the absolute number 60$ without any relation.. if someone plays 600 hours aoe4 and loves the game, its super cheap fun. If you play 3 games and it sucks, its a high price of course.

While relating the game price with how much content it has is a fair point, it's not the only factor, and we can't compare it with people's income either imo. It should be compared to other video games. In this case 60$ is not cheap, it is the highest possible price a video game should go, which means if someone buys a game with this price they should expect a game that is:
1. Complete. 2. has no game-breaking bugs. 3. has enough content ( ~20+ hours) 4. has high quality since it is an AAA game price.
Aoe4 has the quality and enough content but it's not complete and full of game-breaking bugs, and unfortunately most gaming companies are always launching unfinished games with full price these days.

I completely agree. All I said is I would rather pay 150$ for AoE4 if it is perfect and I can have 600h+ fun with it than pay 60$ and get an alpha version and dislike after 2 games.
60$ is a quite random number and nearly the same I paid for aoe1 20 years ago, so only because Fifa also costs 60$ we cant expect microsoft delivers AAA+ rts content for that price.

For me quality/price is just more important than price.

If you are a student with low earnings and you have a lot of free time, you may like more cheap games and dont care so much about some lost time maybe.
But as soon as you are a family father with a very limited amount of time, you are willing to pay 20 bucks more more if you receive a better game with less bugs and not an alpha version :-)

Yeah I think a lot of us probably would have been willing to pay 30 or 40 or even 50 for a version of AoE2:DE that was worked on by professional developers.

I feel like most the games I've bought (all games with about the same or greater number of players per day as aoe2 / 4 per steam stats) don't fulfill the criteria you listed, yet all cost about that same price point. I don't play any of the top 15 games so maybe those kinds of titles are able to come out that way but the ones a bit further down the list seem to always have issues.
I agree I always felt games should be finished and balanced and not have these exploits when they come out but after seeing it across the board in the games I play, my expectations have more changed to the game not really being ready until like 5 years after it has come out.

Many great games were excellent at launch like GTA5, Red dead redemption 2, dark souls 3, breath of the wild and a lot more games. Even the indie game Hades was great on launch. The problem is that these days, gaming companies get away with half cooked products, false advertisements etc... and they only care about profit without paying much attention to quality since they will sell the product anyways.
Aoe4 was in development for 4 years and it had great potential to be amazing on launch if they were more patient with it but it wasn't the case which is a real shame.

You can always with any game wait for the price to drop. I'm pretty sure we will see some 50% deals next year for AOE4. And by that time bugs may have been fixed and balance be better. That's the thing with every game. And we have been promised that editor and mod support is coming next year.

Or you can take the best option and get Game pass.

I'd be lying if I stated I'm surprised AoE2 streamers, economically dependable on streaming find out they can't completely cut the tie with it yet . Just feeling funnily weird for all their unnecessary heavy statements last year 11.

Is Demuslim the last big daily Aoe4 streamer? Everytime I visit this page, I only see him with +-1.8 k viewers, while others like grubby are either not streaming aoe4 on a daily basis or have the same/lower numbers than Aoe2 streamers.
This game lost most of its hype way earlier than I would have predicted.

ML, Demuslim and Hera got in regular basis 1.5 -2k, and when one of them ends his stream just raid one of the others, they are like the biggest AoE4 streamers- top players. Bonjwa and Grubby being the biggest streamers for AoE4 without doubt. For me it seems that these numbers are not for an esport (just like AoE2),, maybe we have to wait for Riot in order to get a new and good RTS.
