I think I've only posted once on these forums but I've been in the community for a while. So why post now? Well, I watched MBL's video on how starting vils cannot be blocked by scouts recently, and think I have discovered that the explanation is very simple: unit pathing precedence is done according to the order in which units spawn. Simply put, a unit that spawns after another unit is forced to pause or go around a unit that has spawned earlier. And it seems that scouts spawn after villagers. I recorded a quick and dirty video to demo this:
