Capture Age Lag - Late Game

This is My PC

Ryzen 5 2600
Installed RAM: 32 GB
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2060

This is what it consumes in my PC:

Is something that I'm doing wrong, or should I buy a new PC-component? If so which one?

Were you watching a replay on this ss? The game consumes ~2400MB of RAM for me right after I open it up. I don't have CaptureAge installed but it doesn't seem like it's taking a high amount of RAM usage.

Deleting some replays and saved games might improve the performance. If not, try some basic troubleshooting: Remove Windows temporary files, install all driver updates and maybe even reinstall both programs. I don't think the hardware is the problem here.

Probably the single thread performance of your CPU is hurting you, DE itself isn't very well optimized for many core CPUs.

But should the CPU be changed to a newer one with more single thread performance? Or is there any configuration arround that?

I would check the discord to be 100% sure but I think yes - a 5600x would be nice if it's compatible with your motherboard.

The other possible solution is reducing your monitor's refresh rate but that doesn't seem to do much for me.

You can upgrade your cpu to a modern ryzen 5000 that will help a little, but if the original game you are watching has lag you might notice it while espectating.

Ryzen 2000 has lets say 100% IPC ryzen 3000 has 130% IPC and ryzen 5000 has 155% IPC and higher frequency, you will notice the upgrade especially for single core/thread games like aoe, IPC is all what matters for single threaded games.

But if you want even more horsepower intel 12gen has stronger IPC than any ryzen 5000, an i5 12400f or a 12600kf could be a better upgrade than any current ryzen for aoe2.

i have a bit better PC than that a Ryzen 9 and its lag in late game, so it won´t help.

5800x, 5900x and 5950x will all be close to identical for capture age I bet.

I have a similar CPU to a Ryzen 5 2600 (and 32gb of RAM, and an ok GPU), and your PC performs a lot better than mine at capture age Memb. I would be surprised if OP doesn't see a big improvement.
