Hi all!
(czech) pip made the captains mode website and we are continuing to host a monthly 2v2 ~6 hour long double elimination tournament to test the website and how it changes the way AoC is played. If you have a free saturday from ~16-21gmt on the the 13th February and want to have some fun with a friend, come and join us!
We hope to stream as many of the games as possible on twitch on http://www.twitch.tv/vooblyofficial or http://www.twitch.tv/voobly_stream. We are looking for a streamer, so if this interests you please let me know.
Brackets: http://challonge.com/CMDMedition
Note: These are subject to change, if a team is running late they shall be removed.
Event Format
Due to possibly 9 teams playing, Round 1 and 2 of upper bracket will be Bo1, everything else except for the final shall be Bo3 with the final being Bo5
This will be a small 2v2 tournament with the first 8 teams to sign up. Additional teams will be still added as fallback teams, in case any of the first 8 teams pull out. Everybody is welcome (any ELO). The format is double elimination BO1 for Round 1 (games A, B, C, D, J, K) and BO3 for remaining games before the grand final (games E, F, G, L, M ,N) and BO5 in the Grand Final (game H).
The tournament features the Captains Mode drafting.
Captains mode is a turn-based civilization picker. Each captain picks and bans civilizations in a predefined order. Bans prevent the opponent's captain from picking those civilizations. All picked civilizations have to be picked in-game.
For each turn captains have 30 seconds to ban or pick a civilization. If you don't pick or ban a civilization within the 30 seconds then;
you don't pick a civ to be banned - your opponent has 1 less banned civ, therefore more options when picking civs,
you don't pick a civ to play as - the system will generate a random pick for you considering the opponent's bans.
For tournaments there are more options available. Hidden turns are hidden from the opponent, until a special turn (SHOW ALL, SHOW BANS, SHOW PICKS) reveals the choices. There are also global bans, where once a civ is banned or picked, it can't be picked or banned by any player. There are more, so make sure you read the description for the tournament and presets.
