Imo it's understable that those two semis were one sided considering that AM and GL are probably the strongest team. That's not a map problem at all. The games were realy enjoyable especially lost machos who did realy great vs GL. I think they had one or two games on their hand like the one when daut lost his wood villagers. But he did a great move by going all in one TC with berbers and killing everything then. Ggs to all!

Just to be clear, I didn’t mean to suggest that it is a map problem, quite the opposite. I just think that these maps are very unforgiving for mistakes and favor the more skilled team, making it very competitive matches (and these tend to be very one sided).

In my opinion AM and GL didn't get better, but the others played worse than in BoA2.
Call me crazy, but I believe the one sided semi finals were still the result of Aoe4 release. AoE2 ladder/competitive scene was dead for months after the release and many players didn't play much, if at all. AM and GL players on the other hand have too much raw skill in comparison to Suomi,WWP and others, so their advantage got even bigger against players, who need daily ladder to stay in shape.

Not sure to be honest. I feel out of the typical contenders for top four (Suomi, aM, WWP, and GL) Suomi and WWP are the ones that should be least affected by reduced ladder activity as they rely disproportionately much on synergies and team strategies and generally tend to play more behind closed doors. Ex ante I would have predicted the state of the ladder to hurt aM the most, but guess I was wrong

We are in their voice channels, listening constantly, we are watching their point of view at all times, and we are watching their immediate surroundings on cameras. There are minor other things, but those are the primary tools. Even a spectator delay has its flaws, but we hope to combine the aforementioned and a spectator delay for the future, in hopes of boosting security even further and making each of the tools stronger by all of them being utilised simultaneously.

Well it's still eaf to cheat if you want to. Just play with a little ear-in and thats it. That will never be discovered on stream and you have full knowledge. I remember such devices during my university exams. Profs didn't discover them standing right beside.

Hope GL wins, but looking at how strong AM is at the moment, it will probably be a 5-3 or 5-2 for AM.

Both teams are really strong and I agree that AM looks a little more solid.
But let us not forget that they have not yet tasted defeat in a single game this tournament. I think that if GL manages to score an early win it might break AM's mental flow a little bit by ruining the perfect streak.

However, we should not exclude the possibility of a 5-0 win for AM. Imagine what a legendary run that would be, undefeated through the entire event. It would also make it quite entertaining to revisit this post and see all the suggestions how "AM needs to be nerfed"/"things to avoid one-sided tournaments"/etc...

IMO it can be fun to have pro players cast in group stage or quarter finals, but something like the grand finals should be casted by proper casters.
I suppose Dave and T90 will cast together, so maybe they weren't available. And I don't think Nili will cast anyway. Still, I think Lidakor, Survivalist etc would've been a better choice.

Also, Vinchester's audio was kinda bad the last time

Disagree 100%. I think Vinchester is an amazing co-caster! Especially for a final its great to have the insights from an expert player as cocast (another good example of an amazing player as cocaster would be slam and there are many more)

Well I can see why you want casters to be Dave or T90, but at same time you say want a professional caster instead of Vinch and suggesting Survivalist. I like Surv and I watch his streams quite a bit, but how exactly he is more professional caster? They are both mainly players, not casters. And one better by quite far.

I like Vinch as a caster, he goes into a lot of detail when talking about the game that most other players don't do when casting

Yes, I agree, he more often tells some details that most other casters miss.

I really enjoyed Vinch's casting earlier in the tournament -- I thought he complemented Memb well and I enjoyed his insights, I agree with the others that he often goes into more detail that most others don't. Looking forward to seeing/hearing him again!

So Memb asked for some feedback, here's mine on this tourney so far.

It's great, well done.

The positives are many, best video quality, great maps, great production, great casting, mostly good co-casting.

No big negatives as such, just a few minor irritations :-)

1. Don't like the player cameras during play. I don't like that they are compulsory right through. I could live with them if it was just the final 8 or final 4, I think it puts too much of some non pro players in the early stages. I love the fun interviews and they are a big plus on this tourney to get to know and see some newer faces. Perhaps get updated photos from all players and show on draft screen or elsewhere, just don't need them taking up valuable real estate on the game stream during matches, they are usually out of sync anyway.

2. Don't like the audio access, though I have only heard it used once, it's a total invasion on the players and perhaps the Admin should have access ok, but it should never be live broadcast.

3. Calling the game too early, it's even more annoying when Membs right :-)

Overall a top tier event, looking forward to this afternoon, hope it's a close series. And Memb take a well earned break after you are doing a great job.

Ehh, Survivalist is kinda a mix lol.
He casts really well, and has a precedence of casting.

Yep, between GL and AM, they have 7 out of 8 top players lol.

AM could brute force their way out when it came to other teams, but when it comes to GL, their individual skills are almost matched, even if AM has a slight advantage there.

I still think AM will win this eventually, but they're being pushed to their limits. Which is good to see.

Apart from Socotra to an extent, the matches were very even so far, and came down to a decision or bad battle.
