Yep, this is the real dangerwhy focus on castles, when a group of plums can make a mess moving around the enemies cities destroying all tcs.

I opt for full siege+eskirms+hc/champ, depending on civ.
But Full siege really makes a difference vs Mayans in Post Imp wars, you're definitely right!

TBH, this kind of technology can make a mass of plumes just take out castles and tcs recklessly... not a good thing., especially if the elite plum range is going to be back to 5. Just take 40 plums and take out even 2 castles with them.. wtf already they dont die to arrow fire much.
EDIT: And now I just tested 40 elite plums Full upped and patrolled from range vs an FU frank castle with 7020 hp. 33 Remained alive and castle is destroyed. Seriously? 4 damage per hit for such a fast firing unit that dont die to arrows when used properly. When tested vs a Spanish Full upped castle 25 plumes remained when castle was destroyed. This is vs a castle with hoardings masonry and architechture all of which is very rare to see together.
mayans are not op. In post Imp Wars they have a hard time against a full siege + cavalry attack.
