It is a great pleasure to finally announce the return of Battle of Africa.
Two years after the first instalment - Battle of Africa 2 will help set the standard as the first major team game tournament on Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. The teams will be competing over multiple weeks to earn a portion of the fantastic 20.000$ prize pool thanks to the amazing sponsors that helped make this event happen:

Once the event is concluded, MembTV will add 1$ per current subscriber to the total prize pool

Battle of Africa 2 will take place between 10th of May and 7th of June. It will feature an extended qualification stage with 24 teams - and the main stage, which will include the best eight teams in the world. In terms of maps, you will get to experience some great old classics from the original Battle of Africa, as well as some new exciting environments to shake things up.

An extensive thread with a full timeframe, rules and settings will be created very soon - but for now, the most important details are - all the games will be played as 3v3, fixed positions will be enabled and slinging will be banned until the slinging player has reached the Imperial Age. Secret cannot be out in any scenario. Both Heresy and Suomi have to win 3-0/3-1 for Heresy to tie with Secret and it will be 3 way tie as Yinyang also have 4 points. Even in that case the 3 way tie is won by Yinyang with 2 set wins so Yinyang will be 2nd. Further, Secret beat Heresy in their head to head. Secret will at worst be 3rd in the group.

or memb will regroup all four teams in semifinal?

 

I believe it's like you said, because this way (without upsets) no two teams from the same group are going to play each other again (would be a bit lame to end a group stage just to push for the teams to play each other again). Also it's more fair if a group is unfortunately stronger than the other, because A3 won't get knocked out by A2 immediatly, never having the chance to prove that they are stronger than B2 and B3 :P

I checked the handbook, memb use seed1, seed2, etc to denote. If I understand it correctly, it's basically A1 vs B2/A3 and B1 vs A2/B3.

Not true, if they lose 3-0 against Suomi and Heresy wins 3-0 or 3-1 against YinYang, Secret are out.

Regarding the overlay, could it be possible to include trade (and fish) in the villager count on the main panel? Because, especially for trade, the villager count alone without the trade don't mean anything past mid-imp. Or, alternatively, include the trade count in the main panel, always visible to the spectator.

Maybe in late game automatically add trade cart number and trade profit. Remove number of tcs or idle vils which maybe less important if there is no space.

And I really like the format: We had a lot of matches, everyone of which still was important in one way or another and the four strongest teams qualified for the semis, despite a little awkward result of the seeding, with one group being significantly stronger than the other one.

The seeding is never perfect but there were 2 upsets in the BO3 Qualifiers, vivi team didn´t use their main 3 players while in gold league they are using, and playing sick, vivi tim and jibatong were suposed to be in the group and also barles vinchester janik modric, but both lost and the teams who advanced did a great job, also mr yo team got a low seeding cuz paladin has low rating, seeding was just done in a way that we didn´t touch anything, if we did manually the groups ¿¿could be more balanced?? who knows, but the seeding was fair because was 1v1 and anyone could have prepare and get better rating since we didn´t have proper TG ladder, which still we don´t.

Other than that i think tournament is being great games because the maps are just great in general and teams are trying the maximum, that guarantee a great combination.
