I'd just like to point out that originally there was no prize pool for 5-8th, but I asked for it to be added as it is kind of silly for experts to possibly sit around for 8 hours, play 2/3 bo1s and receive $0 compensation.
I, for one, welcome our new corporate overlords.
In all seriousness, I think this is very cool. New expansions keep the game alive to new players, who would otherwise dismiss this as a deadend cult game for oldies.
The updates are fixing many bugs, so the devs ARE taking care of stuff. I don't know what kind of internal troubles they've been having but to see so much activity lately is very reassuring. Also, I have read in the changelog that the new expansion will intoduce spectator mode, which was overdue. Cool to see things are moving... wouldn't like to see the game stalled forever with the same people playing the same maps doing the same things for eternity.

Would anyone like a VO (or my personal channel) rec cast of this tourney? I will be studying for exams till the 18th so wont be able to catch the games live and im sure i will watch all of the games anyway so i might as well stream it. Would anyone be interested in watching or seeing more coverage of the tourney?
We need a Vietnamese player for this tournament

I hope this was a joke. I very much hope.

Well you're free to do it of course, but as it's already covered well I feel like other games would make more sense imo.
maybe he couldn't play at 15 GMT onwards, which is 10 PM onwards in vietnam iirc?We need a Vietnamese player for this tournament
Yea why is BacT not invited?

Maybe we can take 50$ from the pool and pay you to stop your annoying posts...
People want to see viper, daut, nicov and not draxien and metal, so why shouldnt they receive 50$ for 8hours of sitting and playing?
I care about the people on HD about the same I care about people playing GR, AoM, AoK, AoE3, CS 1.6 or about the thousands of people who play singleplayer. I'll likely never play them, never chat with them. If you say there are 3m on steam due to HD, then maybe 0.1% of them went to voobly (3 000 though I doubt it's that many). I'm only glad for those who moved to voobly. How many of those actually moved to Voobly due to HD? However your point was a bit OT, my point was that this mode/shifting players towards steam and HD isn't positive thing for the community, since it will divide the base of players.Jeez I'm so sick and tired of this "dividing the community" mantra that people keep posting about. The "community" would be a lot smaller today if it wasn't for AoEHD and the huge (3M) number of people that picked up and played the game again because of it.
Seeing that many people on stream can't be seen positive. Not for you as a streamer though. Only good thing coming from stream is that some part of the money goes towards events for players.Who cares if they play on AoEHD, Voobly, Gameranger, whatever. Thousands of Voobly and aoehd players come together to watch streams side by side and enjoy the game however best suits them.
Considering I don't see this event as a positive thing for community, I won't discuss that, but I hope it will be "damn good show" when you promise it. There was the same promise for WSVG though, hope this won't be the same.We are going to put on a damn good show, and I'd hope we break some viewer number records this weekend too. And all of this is made possible thanks to collaborating, working together and having the balls to just try something.

Wtf youre talking about? HD brought tons of players to voobly, thats undeniable, even though most of them are playin the new player lobbyI care about the people on HD about the same I care about people playing GR, AoM, AoK, AoE3, CS 1.6 or about the thousands of people who play singleplayer. Just one thing: isnt memb part of EscapeGaming as well? i wish some of the games were casted by him. Also, is nilli part of EscapeGaming now?
memb said today that he was left out for reasons which "you don't want to know" 11.
in any case, he is definitely the wrong person to cast such a showcase tournament for HD,
as his opinion of HD is that it is "nothing but ****" lol. man when (finally) microsoft sponsors your
tournament, you can't let a guy like him cast, you need someone that can sensibly represent
the aoc community like zero empires or T90 (mr good guy himself lol, I used to flame on his channel until he wrote me a tl;dr message asking me to stop, saying that he really doesn't want to ban me, etc. that was just too much for me, so I actually stopped 11). memb is just too emotional.
and santa claus exists!
Yeah, I understand that some of the people played on HD and then moved to Voobly, but would they actually play on Voobly even if they didn't play on HD? I don't think somebody is promoting Voobly on steam so the majority of them hardly found Voobly via HD. However that's not important and it's only good thing if we're getting more players from HD than we're losing here (which I guess is true). But I'm not denying that HD has a positive impact on number of players playing AoC, I just don't care about people on HD till they join Voobly (and it seems I'm not the only one). Moreover, if part of the people on HD would go for this new mode, the chances of getting them for Voobly and AoC strongly decreases. So if this mode will be succesful (hopefully it won't be) the number of people playing AoC on Voobly will decrease. That's my point and that's why I don't see it in a positive way. However Zak I respect escape gaming, I respect you and I hope other projects will help AoC to grow (in terms of more players, more games) not to help the viewer count on twitch to grow (and to break records). I didn't want to be so negative, it's just my point of view and I'm sorry if my post insulted you.Half of the new exisiting Community team on Voobly and main organisers of current tournaments and such came from HD. If it wasnt for HD the 1600-2k range would be a lot less populated aswell.
