Barbarian AI on DE

Hey guys,

When copying the Barbarian AI files to the right DE folder you can play Barbarian AI on DE. Only problems are you cant play higher then “hard” and the AI cant play the new civs. At least that’s what I found in a different thread here and on reddit.

I tried it a few days ago and it worked. I watched the Barbarian beat the DE AI in a 1v1. Now I cant get it to go again. When I start the game, Barbarian doesn’t build houses, it only brings in sheep with one vill, scouts with 2 vills, idle tc and scout. Anybody now what I am doing wrong or experiences the same issues?

works for me
I assume all ai files in the barbarian sub folder are still there and you didn't change anything in the AI files.
Maybe post your settings on which it didn't work.

Btw. from what I learned, unit ID for units introduced with African kingdoms and Rise of the Rajas are different in HD/DE and in UP/WK.
So since Barbarian obviously uses UP/WK unit IDs, it can't train that units when playing on DE (until TheMax has updated it). Just to consider when choosing a civ.

Thanks for the reply, i totally missed in my inbox.

I didnt mess with the files at all, just downloaded barbarian 2.18 and copied it to the "ai" folder. like i said, it worked for me in the beginning, but now the barbarian just sends 1 vill to food, 2 vills scout, nothing else happens.. also worked when my fried hostet a multiplayer game vs barbarian the other day. i just treid it again and used these settings:

barbarian - britons
2 player map arabia,
hard difficulty
everything visible so i can check
normal settings for the rest..

hope themax finds time to update it to DE, i am rather underwhelmed by the DE ai.

“It is likely DE support will be added, although not in the next update (which I'm hoping to release relatively soon). “

He also said the next version would build counter towers against trushes

Considering the fact that he just won against Viper, I can say that barbarian AI is not a priority right now

Nah he was just sitting back and letting Barbi do the dirty work

Just got this error

I fixes it by removing the AI Packs from mods. They seem to be bugged. Just download Barbarian and manualy add the files to the DE AI folder.

TheMax still didn't release the update for the WK version which he said he was planning to release before a potential DE version so I wouldn't bet on it happening in the nearest future

To be fair it also might be more than just adding the new civs if he plans to get DE barbie on the same lvl as WK barbie as some of the scripting commands on DE transferred from WK/userpatch are still bugged. (They are gradually getting fixed though)

You can still copy the WK version to the DE AI folder but it will be slightly weaker.
