AoEZone feature to hide threads by selected user(s).

Hi everyone,

I just found this out:

I was wondering if its possible to automatically hide threads by a selected user.
Lets say there is a user who frequently creates threads no one cares about and just ruins the aoezone experience in general. I found out that going on that persons profile and by clicking on "ignore" it automatically hides all threads they created.




Posts in threads by that person are also not visible:

Well there are some obvious troll/second account users happily polluting many threads every day for a while without getting banned. So putting them on ignore list sounds more than reasonable..

If someone is trying to say something and a third party intervenes to prevent then, that can be censorship.
If someone is talking and people choose not to listen to them because they're annoying and clog up the new threads section (purely hypothetically speaking, of course), that ain't censorship.

I believe this is a terrible feature. Some of the biggest threads of aoezone with hundreds of posts are opened by whoever does it first when they see the news. If that user also happens to be a spamming troll that I have on my ignored list, I can never see the thread even though I might be very interested in what other users have to say about the topic.

I wonder if I’m the only one that has never added anyone to an ignore list on here.

On the topic of the goths guy, he actually gives me the vibes of being an alright guy. Wouldn’t add him to an ignore list (some topics became interesting too). There was also another guy here that was called a “troll” here regularly but struck me more as someone that just likes to talk a lot.

In aoe2 official forums you can mute threads. I use that feature a lot since there are tons of dumb balance suggestion discussions I'm not interested in. Once you mute them, you dont see them in the unread lists anymore. Pretty useful. Maybe something like that could improve the experience here in AOEZone.

People like to live in a bubble where they are always right and never wrong. On the internet. They crave echo chambers, less their sense of self worth be impacted.

It's kind of humorous to see what length people will go to in order to automatically do something they are already capable of doing. Imagine having an opinion one way or another on a forum feature that can already be done by oneself.

I consider myself already blessed with the skill of ignoring stuff I'm not interesting at by looking elsewhere.
It's a feature.... and a bug.
