I guess we want all civs pickable - and some simply have really bad early eco. Instead of making them "well-rounded" I say stick to their strengths, but make their strengths help out with the early ages.
Koreans eco bonus suggestion:
- Make stone mining 50% faster instead of just 20%.
- If Mongols can have 50% faster hunting, why not koreans 50% faster stone.
This way the fundamentals of the civ aren't being changed too much.
Also provides an option for selling stone for faster castle if not trushing.
Byzantines
- The problem with Byzantines, is even though some people think they're a little bit good at everything, they're actually a little bit bad at everything.
- Give Byzantines a cheaper (50% cheaper) and faster imp (33% faster) (remember they have no eco bonuses) and stronger buildings and walls from dark age (40%) so that the byzantine player can survive rushing.
- Would really make for a good defensive strategy.
Saracens
- Can build a market in dark age
- Will help with slower early eco as they should be able to up to castle faster.
- Opens up the realm of strategy possibilities - dark age slinging?
Franks
- First knight defensive upgrade free with black smith.
- Your feudal age will still be weak, but if you can make it castle age, you'll have a good game with franks.
Turks
- 33% faster gold
- Turks are still pretty weak in Feudal, this should help out a little.
- The player will probably have a gold problem in imp.. so I feel they're balanced.
Love the transport ship in dark age option. Water maps are a bit of a snorefest.
