Keeping your starting scout alive suddenly becomes even more valuable than it previously was.
is it confirmed whether or not this is applicable to all units or just the starting scout?Keeping your starting scout alive suddenly becomes even more valuable than it previously was.

ah yea i see, the first post did say initial scout. I read people discussing it later on and assumed it was up in the airI'm assuming that the information they posted is accurate.
If it isn't and all scouts/units can do it, that is even worse.

Microsoft has responded on the offical forums
Speaking for myself I can honestly say that once this patch comes out you will have lost one player. And every person thereafter to whom I recommend the game will be advised to stay away from DE.
There were posts on the steam forum, not sure about official forumWhat the hell is that response from him? Are they blind? Have they ever opened an Aoe Twitch stream and heard people complaining about autoscouting not being a thing? Are these M$ devs fans of this game at all? Do they even play ever?
That one guy is notorious for having no idea what he is talking about. He also like complaining that the community is "so ungrateful" when we are unhappy about bugs or the lack of features that were promised before...What the hell is that response from him? I argued some time ago about game being "dumbed down" when MQ was intended to become standard. I see this trend continues. So, just a few notes.
Our hope is that new players will feel more confident joining their friends in multiplayer matches, and more seasoned players will find it a nice quality-of-life improvement they can use to keep exploring when they want to focus elsewhere (though it’ll still be far less efficient than a manually commanded scout by a skilled player).
The strawman is calling, 2018 is that way.So dumbed down, I really miss not having to cycle through each of the 10 buildings to queue up the same unit. Its such a skill and a strategic aspect of the game...
Also, whats with gather points? Wouldn't it be a lot more intensive if you had to order each unit created to move to an area manually? So now any ***** can gather up a large army
And the vils gathering resources auto after building a drop off site... sigh, making eco easier for dumb ppl
Not to mention the atrocities called formations, any nub can split and spread units with a button
Sorry if it makes you angry, not my intention. So dumbed down, I really miss not having to cycle through each of the 10 buildings to queue up the same unit. Its such a skill and a strategic aspect of the game...

I'm still waiting for them to just introduce AI eco management in general tbh. This is a great idea.
AOE2 isn't just a game for pros, some of us don't have time (or skill) to invest into AOE2 to be able to have 500+ APM. My dark age has finally gone up to okayish, but I still struggle scout to keep the scout active at the same time.
Having autoscout will help me to improve things I find much more interesting, like army compositions and counters. Assuming it does a better job than I could do with it.
If you think it's bad...then don't use it. No reason to get jealous because it makes the game easier for some of us less skilled plebs.
Now if only they could add autoqueue villagers...
I think the AI should take the strategic part too, after all microing is what we all enjoy the most.I'm still waiting for them to just introduce AI eco management in general tbh.
Why would we be asked to do boring booming when microing and strategical decision making related to army is so much more fun?
I think in ideal world it'd work like in Hearts of Iron 3, where you could switch between 'human' 'limited AI' and 'full AI' control for each of the main branches of the game(ie. army management, production, research and such) instanteously. This would allow each player to only do what he enjoys the most, so for example a boomer could just tell his AI to spam skirms and not be bothered for the following 10 minutes as so as he just devotes his time to booming.I think the AI should take the strategic part too, after all microing is what we all enjoy the most.
