I think it says even more about how **** UWP is if it breaks user space in such an invasive way...In addition to this, there was a period of several months (from about March/April to August/September, if I'm remembering correctly) where the in game chat box had been broken due to a Windows update. There was no support for this issue, an issue that fundamentally broke one of the core pieces of the game. Not only did this bug stop players from talking with each other in multiplayer, but it prevented players even from entering the cheat codes in single player. Watch pretty much any review/discussion about DE, and it will have people mentioning the nostalgia of how they used the cheats years ago. I think it says a lot about Microsoft that they were willing to leave a game they published in a state like this for months.
