Just played vs a guy yesterday and I couldnt understand how he had 2x more eco than me with RUS without water. Felt disgusted watching the replay seeing the guy abuse the relic bug.

How come they didnt fix that asap? I bet there are many other guys doing the same thing lol...

Just like the others, I can't help but worry how spaghetti the code has to be, to the point where they are afraid to tweak some simple numbers.
Or alternatively, how utterly incompetent management in Relic Entertainment is that they can't sort out a sensible patch schedule and organize a real hotfix. Many other companies would have fixed most of these issues within a day.

Prelate bug has been a thing since beta few months ago, game had released few weeks ago, patch came out yesterday, they still refuse to even acknowledge it, not to mention giving any information regarding solving the problem which makes one of the civs borderline unplayable as their main mechanic can randomly stop working.

What they did with Mongols is flabbergasting. Such a convoluted attempt at applying a bandaid to what can easily be considered an open fracture. I struggle to comprehend what was possibly going through the minds of people who came up with the idea and accepted it.

Pretty bad that AAA-prized game has a such game-breaking bugs, which cannot be fixed quickly. The hype for AoE4 doesn't live forever. If they want the game have successful competitive scene, they really should deliver more. Now there isn't even a basic spectating tools.

I assume that there bug fix/balance team is very small at the moment becouse most of the people are still working on actually finishing the game.

Or they spend budget on marketing team and content creators instead of devs.

It actually took them 20 years to fix some of the % values in tooltips for AOE2, so 2 isn't a great example.

So these things will only be available in the Spring of 2022...at the earliest...(the "and beyond" part makes me scared it might be even later than that...).

If they were able to deliver it in Spring 2022, they would write them under Spring 22. Don't keep your hopes high.

I doubt they care about having a successful competitive scene, they need esports short term for the hype, to bring in one-time buyers, and it looks like they're being successful at that.

If their business plan revolved around creating a competitive scene the game would be a lot cheaper or even free, following the dota/lol business model.

They will release a dlc with 2 new civs for 20$ in summer and everyone will be happy again. It's a tried and tested formula.

Imagine if you paid full price for iphone today but you would only be able to use it fully in 2 years (that too potentially)

99% of reddit is eating up the roadmap and downvotes the rare few people who point out the fixes should have happened already and winter 2021 is both too vague and too far away of a timeframe

devs can get away with anything these days

Most fun part is how customizing hotkeys is "a bigger change" and they "look at it from different directions".

Sounds like they made the game with the idea of non customizable hotkeys. Which I just dont get.

But in the end this is alot better than the 2DE communication. At least you know what to expect (or not to expect).

While it's nice to see what you can expect and to have communication with the devs, this really doesn't excite me. We'll most likely have to wait for over 6 months for hotkey customization, something that was widely requested during beta testing. There's also no mention of spectating tools, so from a competitive side we'll have some balance changes next patch, but have to at least wait until spring 2022 for some actual changes.

Thankfully we'll still have AoE2 :D

I like how the whole roadmap and the article are basically admission that they have/had no idea what they are doing design-wise and otherwise, and that they truly sold early access as full game for full price, get rekt :-)

So, based on the released game and the roadmap, real question - what was the player council for? False advertising? Shill camp (aka tying influencers to them so that they don't complain much)? And if they actually gave any meaningful input, I don't even want to imagine what was the original design like. But overall how is what we have a result of close cooperation or input of expert players, streamers and community is beyond me.

Does somebody have experience with CoH hotkeys customisation? I tried to look it up, and google was throwing guides on external programs redirecting keys and AutoHotkey, so it might just be feature of the engine.

Yeah it is absolutely embarrassing for a publisher of Microsoft's size and a development studio of Relic's (increasingly decaying) reputation.

It is shocking to me a game engine would be written that does not all easy customization of hotkeys and equally shocking that none of us have ever heard about this before considering the popularity and reknown of the first two CoH. Especially in 2006 it is genuinely surprising that a game would be released and garner such critical acclaim while missing such a basic user experience feature.

I am really surprised how they have progressed this much since 2017/18. It's impressive with this speed.

Also, reddit just forgets what happens, they took around 20 days to fix a mongol TC bug and very few changes. Now they are like, oh we have a roadmap, I don't even care if my game gets fully finished at 2030.

Edit: If we have to wait for one more month to fix this bug https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe4/comments/qw8bcx/new_exploit_infinite_resources/ , it will be insane and a lot of players will just abuse this bug now that's being made public.

And it will work again as it worked for DE.

People will be shilling out 20$ for a new DLC in 6 months along with more promises in the roadmap. Game will probably finish in 2-3 years, if it does.

On Reddit people are literally in begging mode

Lets remember to encourage the devs to keep up their good work and Will to improve the game and listen to the players! Nice of Them to communicate their plans for improving the game!

About the spectator tools, since they are now allowing the community to mod the game, would that be something that could be achieved with a mod? Just like we had the "spectator overlay" in AoC?

I agree that the game is unfinished (that's why I have not bought it yet) but don't understand why some people spend so much energy on hating on it. If the game was as bad as they say it is everyone will sooner or later move back to Age2 and the competitive tournaments will follow. If you don't like it just ignore it and keep playing Age2 there are more than enough players still there for all but the very top 0,01% of players to still get challenging games.
