Pretty sure it's supposed to come back. But yeah I'm honestly not super inclined to play ranked without those sites like aoenexus/aoecompanion, and unfortunately they all depend on aoe2.net

Yeah... Sounds dumb to admit, but it does feel bad to play without it... Although lately there were quite often some civs taken wrongly or some different civ counted as aztecs for example, sure is still way way better, but wish we had proper official web for this stuff, kind of baffles me Microsoft has many games with ranked lobbies and doesn't have a proper web for none

Does anyone know whether there ever was a discussion or an approach whether Microsoft/World's Edge would (partially) fund sites like aoe2.net or the spectator dashboard?
Some people want to stay independent, but I would guess even if it were just $100 per month or so, that would help a lot and in other branches it often happens, that small successfull platforms/apps are acquired by larger ones that see a lot of benefit in them.

It's not just a matter of ease of implementation, but also cost to maintain and run. I imagine aoe2.net was seeing a good deal of traffic. Some of those API calls can be fairly significant/demanding.

Some questions I have are:

• How is it that aoe2.net is able to access the data that it does?
• Is there an API the DE devs can make available?
• Does the aoe2.net dev have an inside connection with someone at MS/FE/World's Edge?
• Do we know who the aoe2.net dev is or is this person anonymous?

Yes, I think it said "until I can make some changes". There seemed to be a recent issue with wrong matches showing up for players, maybe it's related to that.

I don't know, but it looked like it is because the site is down, because it is planned to be updated. So it can still take some time (Days? Hopefully not multiple weeks).
